: A far-Right Trump supporter, identified by antifascists online at Ryan Martinez, has been arrested by police after shooting an Indigenous protester (who is in reported stable condition) in so-called Española, New Mexico at a protest calling for the removal of conquistador, Juan de Oñate, called by the organization The Red Nation.

On social media the event was billed as a "prayerful protest." The statue was put into storage during the George Floyd uprising and was supposed to be put back on display this week at the Rio Arriba County building, which for the last week, has been the site of ongoing Native-led demonstrations, prayer, and protest - successfully delaying the statue being re-erected.

This is the second time that a far-Right counter-protester has shot and injured someone over the statue. On June 15th, Stephen Baca shot a protester at a rally calling for the statue's removal.

It’s finally happened. Trump’s business empire is on the verge of total ruin as his decades-long practice of fraudulently inflating his property values led a NY judge to CANCEL the business certificates of the Trump Organization entities.

Kudos to NY Attorney General Letitia James for bringing this all to light and achieving accountability against Trump. He’s a fraud. He’s a rapist. And he’s a clear and present danger to our democracy.

But justice has caught up to him, and it is glorious to see.

This survey is a big waste of time, because it doesn't ask the important questions about why Black people feel this way, or what would fix it. "More education" for journalists will not fix this.

  1. Cops lie about Black people and crime. Constantly. The first thing cops say following an incident is almost always a lie.

  2. Every journalist that works a crime beat knows this. Not "suspects" this. Knows this.

  3. And yet, they print the lies anyway.🤡

I don't want to get in the middle of this very good exchange, but I just want to throw out there my take on why journalists can't refute police statements: Police Depts control all information on these unfortunate encounters.

Please pay attention to this sometime. They are master propagandists, and they have and control all of the information and its flow. Thus they control the media.

When counter stories come out, it's almost always based on phone video from others.

    PSA: just announced they're changing their privacy policy to default all of your account info, who you support, etc. to public. You need to go into the settings and disable that. (Check the two toggles at the bottom of the Settings page to off.)

    And then send Patreon a nasty letter, because default-open is just a stupid model to begin with, period.

    For simple changes to GDM login screen, take a look at the dconf app under /org/gnome/login-screen.

    For more compicated layout changes, I believe that there's a relatively new toolset called gdm-tools. Installing his toolset will involve some more complicated steps.

    One of the things I find amusing is when journalists & politicians blame social media for polarization in America. I find it amusing because it’s a very U.S.-centric view that breaks down when you look worldwide.

    America has gotten more polarized while other developed nations have gotten less and they all have YouTube, Twitter & Facebook.

    But one thing that’s unique to America is Fox News and it’s online competitors.

    Some pdf reader/editing applications so OCR. I use PDF Studio 2021 on a Linux OS system, which has this capability. I'm sure that there are others. I'm quite confident in stating that this will be worth it's weight in gold in your line of work. :)

    If your find and install one that does, once you've had it do OCR on your document this, it will be searchable and cut-and-paste-able.

    Thanks for all the suggestions to fix my issues on macOS. A few remarks:

    • the option to always keep the menu bar visible in fullscreen wasn’t where people told me it was. I eventually found it in “missions control” for some reason.
    • Three fingers drag to move a window is awesome, why is it not in the main touchpad settings?
    • The “move” shortcut is the stupidest thing. Just use the command X feature that is IN THE MENU (why have it here if it’s greyed out all the time??)

    I've been sticking with Gnome for quite a while now, but I have to say, all these years trying to disable tracker-miner, et al, have made me tired. :)

    I like the current rev Gnome interface well enough, but I took stock the other day and there are almost zero DE-bound applications that I use.

    I suspect I could move straight to a DM/WM and be good with it. That is, if I could land on something that played well with Wayland. And allowed multiple monitors.
