I want to say this is the fault of the original #40K#creators, being young, edgy, metal loving British men who thought things "happy endings are for girls," or "the Grim dark future is serious."
I WANT to, but I CAN'T. Because at the same time #Warhammer DID have a sense of humor, and it did have a sense of fun.
I'd swear to god if I wasn't an atheist, but "the #WarhammerCommunity" used to be different. At least until the middle to late #2000s, when many of "the old guard" started leaving.
No argument on Andy Chambers, but I disagree on the #Necrons with extreme prejudice. #ThirdEdition Necrons were the ONLY good version of Necrons.
1: They were simple. A Wraith was a Wraith, Scarabs were Scarabs and a Lord was a Lord. No "canoptek this," "hexmark that," just because some stock bro got a bee in his bonnet over #intelllectualproperty.
2: Necrons were cooler as unknowable ancients enslaved to cosmic horrors instead of Tomb Kings in space. Infinitely cooler.
@FatherEnoch Perhaps there's a way around that, if the Outsider is brought back as the last intact C'Tan and Oldcrons are his foot troops.
Regarding creators and talent, GW does chew through them at an alarming rate. The most recent example of this, of course, is fan fave Louise Sugden, who is, fortunately, doing well on her own now.
@lordtaku thank you! The head is from a Sisters of Battle box, which is why it's a bit small. If I had some, one of the female Stormcast eternals would have probably been a better scale fit.
The Greater Good - Aetherial Sakura from Wargame Exclusive. I really enjoyed painting this model, especially as it was a good excuse to use different colours than I normally paint minis.

@bitpirate A few years ago I went back to MTG... and I gave up after a year. It was expansion after expansion... Yuck! Include Hasbro into this, as I am sure they demand this, as otherwise they aren't profitable.
I am not a big RPG or wargaming guy, but I do enjoy the smaller companies; Modiphius, Free League, etc.
After being busy and not managing to get time at my paint desk, today I painted up an Ent model, really quick easy to paint, but the result is really nice.
Three Beastmen nearly done. Just waiting for the technical paint to dry, so I can finish the bases (may take until tonight at least, probably tomorrow).
I did a lot of happy reading this weekend, so it's okay that I haven't finished the Kakophonii and only got three Beastmen done. It's my hobby time, not a job. 😊
They are kind of Blanche-coloured. So maybe it's #FediPaint, too?
It's been so long since we Emperor's Children-fans got any good novels. Since I loved his short story, I am looking forward to "Lord of Excess" very much.
Let's hope it's not a total letdown (read: absolute shitshow) like "Genefather" was last year.
