I feel, I can't recommend anymore.
The fact that they are pushing is the reason.
One of the reasons is, that Snap gives a bad user experience. Snaps are really slow at startup and sometimes you have to launch them twice before they open, sometimes it just doesn't open at all.

I understand that using Snap is much easier, since you make one package , that runs everywhere, and I'm all for it! has been needing something like Snap and for a long time and now they are finally here. But pushing a product which doesn't work well is what I don't like about it.

Flatpak works much better and more smoothly than Snap does. Another thing about Snap I think they should be fixing is the centralization around Snapcraft - make it possible for others to set up repositories.

I think many people are having the same opinion, so hopefully (for themselves) can learn and change the issues before Snap goes to 0. If they don't, then eventually more apps will come to instead of .

landel,

@anders
Take a look at nix, guix and appimage.
All solve this.
In fact, this problem was fixed so long ago, most ppl completly forgot.

@boilingsteam the Deck is spawning it's own software eco-system and this is awesome.

@nerdeiro yeah and Valve is taking ideas from there too. The vibrantDeck functionality is coming in the next SteamOS release

Random Astro package of the week is lightspeed. Light Speed! is an OpenGL-based program which illustrates the effects of special relativity on the appearance of moving objects. When an object accelerates past a few million meters per second, these effects begin to grow noticeable, becoming more and more pronounced as the speed of light is approached. These relativistic effects are viewpoint-dependent, and include shifts in length, object hue, brightness and shape.

DebianAstro,

The moving object is, by default, a geometric lattice. 3D Studio and LightWave 3D objects may be imported as well. Best of all, the simulator is completely interactive, rendering the exotic distortions in real-time!

God love you, Linux.

Not only is the install process for GTA five as easy as Windows but the game works perfectly (so far) with no tweaking or setup. I was a bit nervous about trying this as non-Steam installs can be problematic and I'm not that familiar with Lutris or WINE, really. But nope, nothing to worry about at all. I read a few forum posts. Took my time. Followed some simple, logical steps. And voila! 👍

When I started the game I also didn't reckon on it loading my last save from 2019, saved in the Rockstar account! Impressive stuff all round. 🙂

An in-game screenshot. My character (I've forgotten his name!) riding a quad bike, up in the hills, against a beautiful rose-coloured sunset.

chrismckee,

@Uraael Cool; always wondered how well that stuff would work with the rise of the "ubi app" and "rockstar social" all good to see as Win10 slowly EOLs and 11 is a wreck

Yep. Watching the hashtag is good, but I have silenced all the news reposting bots. They generate too much traffic and you can't interact with them as much.

It might be worth just looking for accounts for your fave tools/devs. Lots of 'em are here.
