jimmydoreisalefty, to music in The Pharcyde - Passin' Me By (Official Music Video) [4:39 | Jazz Rap, Hip-hop]
@jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world avatar

In “Passin’ Me By,” The Pharcyde refer to the aphorism of someone being “out of your league”—no matter how much you long for someone, it doesn’t mean that your wish will come true.

The song is the second single from The Pharcyde’s debut album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde.

It peaked at #1 on the Hot Rap Singles, on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts in the spring of 1993. Later, Pitchfork Media included the song at on their Top 200 Tracks of the 90’s.

Dremor, to support in Piracy related communities removal
@Dremor@lemmy.world avatar

Problem is, with an instance as huge as LW, it has some moderation obligations in many countries that may have opened them to be litigated for multiple millions €, considering its size. It is more a question of survival, not because of some power-hungry admin.

I can understand your point of view, but the TOS is clear about piracy and piracy discutions (see : legal.lemmy.world/tos/-piracy), and thus they are required to remove those communities if they break those terms (they are legally binding).

Anyone who doesn’t want to comply with those TOS can, as you pointed out, move to another instance. It is one of the beauty of the Fediverse. In this case, the one who will be responsible in the case of a litigation is lemmy.ca, and not lemmy.world anymore.

"Babbage’s engines were also designed to surveil the workmen... Their design complexity was vastly increased, and their feasibility decreased, by Babbage’s insistence that they print out the results of their calculation throughout the process"

In class, we discuss Gary Becker's economics models that show how much productivity firms are willing to give up in order to discriminate. The same was true of surveillance in the first computers, as @Mer__edith points out

"unTie #2", an abstract digital artwork. Two dissolving streams of geometric particles reach towards a point near the center of the canvas. The particles are blue and yellow, the background is dark like space.

Concentric circles of small particles that resemble ripples on a surface of water are near the center of the canvas, going out from a layer under it are streams of small particles undulating towards the upper and lower edge of the canvas. The background is divided into rectangular areas in bright yellow, red and light blue, resembling stacked cargo containers.

remotelove, (edited ) to unpopularopinion in USA is cursed!

That’s nice.

Now do your research into weapons manufacturing and learn about all the countries that are involved in this particular industry. You will soon find it’s a global racket and isn’t just isolated to one nation.

As an example, I use many brands of components that are produced by Nammo or other European companies in my own reloading room. (Berger, Vihtavuori, etc…) It just so happens I live in the US. Hell, even the “American” smokeless powders I use originate in Australia.

That is just the tip of the iceberg, friend.

Edit: Huh. Even CCI got sold of to a foreign company. CCI and Winchester make primers mostly used in NATO 5.56 ammunition, btw. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vista_Outdoor#:~:text=Vis….
