A word about #ADL: As with most organizations, I don’t agree with every position they take. But when Musk accuses the most organized voice against #antisemitism in the U.S. of costing him ad revenue, he is leaning on a most #antisemitic dog whistle (that Jews control the media) and he most definitely knows it. 1/2
Today, I found out that we (#BabkaSocial) are part of an ADL conspiracy to fake antisemitism to protect Israel, and that this is proof antizionism is not antisemitism.
Since buying #Twitter last year, Elon #Musk has developed a seeming obsession w/the Anti-Defamation League.
Over the past several days, the owner of #X …has posted at least 25 times about the ADL, a #nonprofit#Jewish group that fights #antisemitism.
Sometimes Mr Balloonjuice gets serious. Here, he highlights the insane speed and stark contrast of Mr Greenblatt's seeming abrogation of his organization's core mission in service to Musk. It's a real 'Left is Right, Black in White' inversion of plain reality.
Greenblatt is CEO of the #AntiDefamationLeague, an organization that traditionally sought to challenge hate speech against #Jews.
#US / “Antisemitic Attitudes” in the USA in 2024, according to the ADL
From the 1960s until 2014, there was a decline in #antisemitism in the US, according to the #ADL’s index, which examines respondents' agreement with a set of antisemitic statements.
In 2014, about 9% of respondents agreed with 6 or more antisemitic statements, in 2015 the number rose to 10% and in 2019 to 11%. In 2022 there was a significant jump to 20% and in 2024 the number is already close to 24%.
Over 40% of US citizens think that Israelis intend to cause maximal suffering to the Palestinians (impression shared with Israeli Palestinians, see Mohamed Barakeh’s comment https://kolektiva.social/@oatmeal/112026724167982937)
A third of US citizens think Israeli operatives are manipulating US national policy
Younger generations are much more comfortable being friends with Hamas supporter
As the original post already been boosted, I’m adding an alternative text as suggested in the discussion, to make it clear the post is referring to the following:

The Anti-Defamation League's Expanding Definition of Antisemitism Correlates with Increased Israeli Violence in Palestine
A broadened definition of #antisemitism by the Anti-Defamation League (#ADL) correlates with heightened Israeli state violence against Palestinians.
From 2014 to 2024, the ADL documented a rise in antisemitic attitudes among Americans coinciding with Israel's military actions in Gaza causing thousands of Palestinian deaths and injuries.
In July 2014, Israel assaulted Gaza, killing 2,125-2,310 Palestinians, wounding 10,626-10,895, and left over 1,000 children permanently disabled according to a UN report [1]. That same year, the ADL recorded only 9% of Americans professing multiple antisemitic attitudes [2]. But by 2024, this figure had jumped to 24%, as the ADL applied an expanding definition of antisemitism, which includes criticisms of Israeli policy in the occupied territories (including besieged and blockaded #Gaza).
The data suggests a correlation between Israel's use of force in #Palestine and a rise in perceived antisemitism in the US. This correlation calls for Western media to scrutinize the data presented by the ADL Against evolution of the conflict, which reaches new levels of violence with each iteration.
Only 34% of 🇺🇸 #Jews oppose a ceasefire, and the vast majority of the country supports it, including over 50% of all Jews. Yet the #ADL continues to spread the malicious lie that says supporting a ceasefire is antisemitic. Because ADL has never been about fighting #antisemitism, which can be demonstrated by the way they claim the Sonnenrad — the notorious Black Sun of white supremacist movements — isn't actually racist on their website, in order to protect the US government's alliances with various white supremacists movements who proudly display the Sonnenrad.
Heads up, if you try to argue the Black Sun is not a white supremacist symbol in my comments, I will block. This is an antifascist zone of discourse.
There is something we can all do to call our the hypocrisy of the Anti-Defamation League's announcement of starting up advertising on X/Twitter again. Their own writing discusses the dangers of stochastic violence, and now they've decided to support it. Shameful! See copy of my comment to the online ADL site in the Reply to this post. Feel free to use any part of it.
Jonathan Greenblatt of the #ADL’s first comment about anything #Twitter related (today, 11/17) since Elon Musk boosted a comment saying Jews are anti-white is not anything about that but something praising him for policing pro-Palestinian statements on the platform. There’s absolutely no mention of Musk promoting a version of the conspiracy theory that motivated the Tree of Life synagogue mass shooting.
#ADL honorary Kushner: ‘waterfront property could be very valuable’… Israel should 'bulldoze something in the Negev' to house displaced Palestinians so it can reconstruct Gaza and 'finish the job'
The whole #Musk/ #X/ #Xitter/ #Twitter/ #ADL argument is a great example of how much happier people are to "oppose antisemitism" rather than support Jews.
Groypers attack Jews for standing up to antisemitism and people would rather oppose Musk/Twitter rather than take the ADL's side, supporting them.
Non-Jews love arguing about where Jews should be. Our agency, our decision and input, is at best secondary and at worst hostile.
I’m really tired of seeing people bashing and misrepresenting the ADL in their criticisms of Musk. Just as one example, No, one of their core values is not that “any criticism of Israel is equal to antisemitism.” But more importantly, this isn’t a conversation about Israel, this is a conversation about how the owner of a giant social media platform is gleefully fanning the flames of antisemitism. G-d forbid anyone should support the ADL without first affirming that they aren’t one of (or on the side of) those Jews they don’t like. #ADL#Rant#Jewish#Mazeldon#Jewdiverse#Antisemitism#Musk#Twitter
The CEO is helping to amplify a hashtag campaign against the #AntiDefamationLeague, a civil rights group that combats #HateSpeech
"But perhaps none of that matters to him as long as he gets to punish his enemies while pandering to his extremist pals. Musk has come this far — what’s one more disgrace?"
I began shutting down my usage of #Xitter last October. With #Elon 's recent off the rails accusations at #ADL it's time to finish the job. I requested a data archive and will be deleting the account there once I get it.
No one is going to argue the #ADL is perfect, certainly not me. That said, the attacks on the ADL I'm seeing on the Fediverse aren't nuanced critiques of ADL policy or actions, but are predominantly the same types of rhetoric seen against any Jews who speak out against hate they experience:
They're "Pro-Israel" (by which they mean don't want to see Israel destroyed)
"They're racist" (I've yet to see anything racist the ADL has seen, but am open to reading it), etc.
The other question one should ask is what other organization representing a marginalized group do you see that has so much criticism lobbied against it from people outside the group itself?
When you see that kind of criticism lobbied at a group representing marginalized people, how do you feel about the ones doing the critiquing and or calling for the group to be disbanded or destroyed?
If ad hominem attacks on other groups makes you uncomfortable, the same should hold true of the ADL.
The Lutz report was written by expert Republican pollster and political strategist Dr Frank Luntz, in 2009, to help the Israeli government, and its supporters, like AIPAC and the ADL, to sway public opinion toward Israel. One of the most fundamental rules of the playbook is to always spin every conflict or scandal as one in which Israel is the victim of terrorism, and in which Israel has the “right to defend itself.” This strategy, according to the Lutz report, will always win the support of the majority of Americans. In contrast, you should never mention borders, territory, or the loss of Palestinian land usurped by Israel in 1948, 1967, or in 1973. That will make Americans much more sympathetic toward Palestinians, at the expense of Israel’s ambitions.
#ADL / Blood Libel Accusations Resurface in the Wake of Oct. 7
You’d think ADL would bother to mention in their report about the reemergence of the antisemitic blood libels how many children Israel did in fact kill in this war alone… but why mess up their lovely report with disturbing facts?
#NEWS: #AIPAC (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee) is funding the campaigns of 37 #ElectionDeniers b/c “This is no moment to be selective about friends”. This includes a man who espouses the #racist#ReplacementTheory that #ADL called to be fired. Read the #Jewish Insider’s coverage of the controversy.
While designing an ADL based API, I got bitten by ADL and accidentally called a function from the std namespace. I think I'll switch to deducing this instead #cpp#cplusplus#adl
