Thought of something I’d like in #AppleMusic that I guess #AI could probably provide: Sometimes I want to play specific types or styles of music from an artist or genre.
Example: I really like Polyphia’s instrumental tracks, but I’m usually not into the collabs they do with vocalists. I like all of AJR’s music, but sometimes I only want to hear their songs that lean electronic or use samples.
Apple Music has released its inaugural list of the 100 best albums of all time. Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill"came in at No. 1, sparking some debate by music fans who thought Michael Jackson's "Thriller" was a more worthy winner. Here's a story from the Independent about the list. We want to know, which of these DIDN'T make the top 10?
People say that the sound quality in Apple Music is way better than in Spotify. What is the technical explanation here?
It can't be a problem of the encoding pipeline. This problem has been solved decades ago. #spotify#applemusic#soundquality#audiophile#music#opus#aac#vorbis
100.Body Talk, Robyn
99.Hotel California, Eagles
98.ASTROWORLD, Travis Scott
97.Rage Against the Machine, Rage Against the Machine
96.Pure Heroine, Lorde
95.Confessions, USHER
94.Untrue, Burial
93.A Seat at the Table, Solange
92.Flower Boy, Tyler, The Creator
91.Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, George Michael
I honestly think #Spotify has missed the boat on this one. Those who care about #Lossless will already be on #AppleMusic#Deezer or #Tidal; and those who don't care won't pay the extra to get it. The fact the aforementioned three services all include lossless in their base subscriptions while it will be an extra tier on Spotify won't help matters. #Music#Streaming
If they'd gone lossless a year ago it might have mattered. Now, not so much
Spotify lossless audio said to be close to launch, with third branding
I read a thread on here which said #Napster pays artists (presumably they mean labels) the best, so I downloaded the app to see what it's all about in 2024 because I know it's going to be very different to the Napster I remeber of 2000. :crystal_ball_fb:
And it seems on the surface like a competent streaming app. :face_smile_fb: There's not that much difference between #Spotify / #Tidal / #Deezer / etc. these days to be honest.
But I think I'm sticking with #AppleMusic. :face_sunglasses_fb:
I’ve started testing out alternatives to #Spotify as they’re putting their prices up yet again! £20pm for Family plan now. 🙄
I’ve started with #AppleMusic as I had a 2-month free trial, but the Windows app is trash. It keeps telling me playback has stopped on another device. It wasn’t playing on another device in the first place. Also songs just randomly stops playing or starts from the beginning again. 🤦♂️
I have an album in #AppleMusic with a few songs marked as favorite. I cannot find a way to tell Siri to play or shuffle just those songs. Has anyone else?
Like “play my favorite songs from X album”
Nothing. It either shuffles the whole album or starts playing whatever songs from across the artist’s catalog. Seriously? #Apple
Does anyone know any musician who actually receives «on a regular basis, at least once a year, [...] relevant and comprehensive information on the exploitation of their works and performances» on #YouTube, #Spotify, #AppleMusic and friends (or radio and TV, for that matter)?
Ended up deciding to go back to Spotify, after about 4 years (I think?).
Even though some things are worse than before, it still feels so much better than Youtube Music and Apple Music.
And they are testing MVs in some countries, which I have yet to see how it works, but I hope it's closer to Youtube Music - in a way that works - instead of Apple Music
Is there a way to quickly switch between two different playlists without losing context?
I’ve got a drumming playlist and I like to be able to go to it and continue playing from the last song I was playing. And then I’d like to go back to listening to the playlist of music I was playing.
