For today's #ThursdayFiveList c/o @neurothing we are looking for banger introductory songs from great albums that make you want to hear more, aka #TheOpener
Beck released the masterpiece Mellow Gold 30 years ago today (March 1) in 1994. I was 14. It's still one of my favorite albums. Mellow Gold is actually Beck's third album, but the one most folks are familiar with because of Loser. TONS of great songs on this one. My favorite might be Beercan, which I know well because I used to cover it. 🤣🔥
One of my favorite remixes EVER is this Pirates Mix: Bumblebeez Remix of Beck's "Nausea". I like it WAY better than the album version of the song. This was on the deluxe version of The Information.
Love that Beck goes for these wild remixes of his stuff.
When I drive, I often just flip to something I already have in my phone that I can quickly find (if I don't already have some idea of what I wanna hear). And alphabetically, Beck is pretty near the top of the list of artists in my Pi music player.
Doing a random play of the Beck songs I have on my phone always comes up with great results. This might be my favorite song on The Information. Total banger. Pretty sure I've talked about it before on here. Cool art, too.
25 years ago yesterday (November 3, 1998), one of Beck's coolest albums, Mutations, was released. I still listen to it often. 'Cold Brains' is an all time great album opening track. And the REST. This ruled my world when I was 18. And all these years later. Still a huge Beck fan. Even his recent stuff.
