@Orchestergraben @classicalmusic
My second favorite piece featuring the Horn in Chamber Music (small ensembles). An older recording. Very good recording, despite using primitive recording technology.

Rudolf Serkin, piano
I. Andante (0:00)

Musical Interlude: I've had spring on the brain today, and here's a piece that has always sung of springtime to me. I guess it could easily indicate something else to other listeners, but for me, it speaks of the gentle warmth of a spring day.
"Piano Concerto No. 2," composed by Johannes Brahms, performed by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by Bernard Haitink, with Emanuel Ax on piano.
Last weekend on Stage+ I watched Lisa Batiashvili, Gautier Capuçon and Zubin Mehta perform #Brahms. I have most of #LisaBatiashvili's album, she is a lovely #violinist, with a clear unique style. I had never visually seem her perform before. But of course, #GautierCapuçon, seemed to me, to try to steal the performance. He is a good #cellist and he has been on some really good albums as a collaborator, but he rubs me the wrong way. He is not that great. Perhaps he's a nice guy.
Ferocity and grace: Gianandrea Noseda conducts Prokofiev and Brahms with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican.
Prokofiev's Fourth has never really done it for me as a symphony (it's the weakest of the seven, I think), though you couldn't fault the performance. Simon Trpceski was wonderful in Brahms's Second Piano Concerto.
Taking a bow with the amazing #MatsuoDuo! First concert of seven in the books. This #FireflyMusicFestival of the Missouri Symphony is going to be an absolute blast! Coming up, Friday 6/30, we will be performing Gabriela Ortiz’s Clara, Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto, and Saint-Saëns’s Third Symphony in our “Clara: Inspiration & Legacy” concert! #classicalmusic#orchestra#symphony#conductor#brahms@classicalmusic
One of my favorite pieces of classical music is Brahm's Hungarian Dances. Especially No .6, which I originally feel in love with because it was featured in Mad Maestro! which was included in a PS2 demo disc I had. One of my favorite things is when composers adapt piano pieces to orchestra.
Just listened to this arrangement of it performed by the Estonian Festival Orchestra. It's a very interesting interpretation.
