Today is a day of mixed emotions for me. The UK's COVID tracing app is finally closing. The app was, by any reasonable measure, a success. A team of experts at the Pandemic Sciences Institute at the University of Oxford and Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick estimate the NHS COVID-19 app prevented […]
It's poop toot time, where I look at #washingtonstate#kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID#COVID19 wastewater data. You might remember that the sample data was later than usual, with the latest 7-day rolling average calculated on 4/9/2023, two days behind the usual sample-to-post cadence. This week's update includes the missing sample from that week, plus the normal Sunday and Tuesday 7DRA calculations from last week.
And, whoa, the West Point sewage treatment Sars-CoV-2 concentrations went on a wild ride. It continued the trend up, then it spiked up to readings we haven't seen since December, then two days later it went down (but not as down as I'd like to see). All from wonderfully low levels just a few weeks ago. What a crazy dataset.
You can find the data for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations, at https://doh.wa.gov/emergencies/covid-19/data-dashboard#WasteWater. WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday.
Was haltet ihr davon? Ist die Empfehlung logisch, verständlich, ausreichend?
Holy crap. A Canadian children's hospital (with no mask requirement) is telling parents with sick kids NOT to bring them to the hospital. We've reached the #COVID19 pandemic stage where medical facilities would rather patients suffer than create a safe environment to treat them.
"If you or your child are coming to one of our clinics but are feeling sick, please call & rebook your appointment for when you are well. Thanks for helping keep our patients and staff safe & healthy."
Deadline for comments is June 26th. If you know of anyone who has Long COVID please pass this along to them or to someone who cares for them. We need to make our government organizations see how urgent it is to start developing treatments for this.

A reminder of why we lost so many Americans to #covid19. To be clear, Operation Warp Speed was tremendous - but the rest of it was not.
And we haven’t fixed any of the things that went wrong.
Capitalists and their useful idiots couldnt give a fuck if you get Parkinsons in 10 years, Dementia in 20 years, and a timeline similar that shrinks in magnitude per each recurrent #COVID19 infection that activates Microglia to bulldoze your brain cells. 🧠
real talk - disarming yourself against covid infection is a special kind of eugenicist fascism that will not work out well for its advocates. "The meek will inherit" & machismo will die.
i told my parents to fuck off with their peer pressure eugenicism and to enjoy their sleep disturbances, memory problems, and tremor via #EmbracingCovid, taking my sisters and nephew with them to an early grave.
Either adapt and protect those you care about, or suffer: Pulmonary Fibrosis, CKD, Diabetes, Osteopenia, Acquired immunideficiencies associated w/RSV and Strep waves, cognitive impairment, etc.
Ignorance, acquiescence may seem tempting, even liberating, but i promise you as the one far left, science-educated member of my family -- one vote offsetting the 11 Fox News "masks make you sick" deliberate clownshow denialists in my family -- my one vote will outlast theres by 40 years minimum.
do what you want, but ive decided to survive and thrive by supporting #CleanAir and #WearAMask initiatives.
Next panelist: 38-yo, active lifestyle before long covid, spent significant time in ICU. Things that have made clinical trials more difficult for them: accessibility, financial and otherwise; in-person visits that could be done via telehealth.
Also:
–says some studies are expensive; one would've cost patient between $3-10,000.
