Increase in risk in cardiovascular events now up to 3 years after covid infection. I guess I won't be stopping the nattokinase any time soon.

From Ruth Ann Crystal, MD:

"Three years after COVID infection, adults had an increased risk of all major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events including heart attack, stroke, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and myopericarditis with an odds ratio of 1.73."

The evidence that covid can dysregulate the immune system is — at this point — extensive, though not well-publicized. A close eye on covid-related subreddits will reveal — with surprising frequency — posts asking about, or describing, anecdotal experiences with this. Here are over a dozen:

We haven't seen this in people before:

Das ist ja sehr merkwürdig. Seit wir eine hochansteckende Infektionskrankheit ungeschützt durchlaufen lassen, die zumindest für einige Monate (wenn nicht viel länger) anfälliger für andere Krankheiten macht, haben wir Rekordkrankenstände bei jüngeren Menschen? 🤔

Das muss diese Faulheit der GenZ sein. Sofort Leistungen kürzen 👍

Excellent analysis by Prof Christina Pagel of the latest Long Covid ONS data from England and Scotland.

ONS estimates that about 1.1 million people over 3 years old in England and Scotland are living with Long Covid for at least 12 weeks, representing just under 2% of the whole population.
Of those who currently have Long Covid (>12 weeks) , over 50% have had it for over 2 years, and over 80% for over a year.
It remains a serious issue.
