Reading through Das Schwarze Auge B10 In den Fängen des Dämons (In the clutches of the demon) from 1985.

Written by Eberhard von Staden (who I know nothing about, except that he authored one more solo), illustrated by Jochen Fortmann.

This adventure is bizarre.

Why do experienced lawyers make fatuous remarks like this? Firms worth many $billions 💸 have known since 2020 (when the was first published) to prepare >> “It is not a long period of time to implement strict and in some cases burdensome obligations” https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/apr/25/unprepared-twitter-among-tech-firms-to-face-tough-new-eu-digital-rules

Diese Plattformen mussen nun die strikteren Regeln im Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz befolgen und eine Gebühr an die EU-Kommission zahlen. Zu den Regeln gehören:

  • Risikobewertungen und Gegenmaßnahmen
  • Audits
  • 1 alternatives Empfehlungssystem ohne Profiling
  • Zugang zu Plattformdaten für Forscher*innen und Zivilgesellschaft
  • Werbe-Archive
  • zusätzliche Transparenz

CMA may impose “conduct requirements” on designated firms, including banning “restricting between the relevant service or digital content and products offered by other undertakings” (cl. 20(3)(e)) https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/58-03/0294/220294.pdf

Other thoughts while reading through… list of covered services is more flexible than the ’s list of “core platform services” (cl. 3); CMA can charge a levy to designated firms (cl. 109; the EU put this in the but forgot the DMA 🤦🏻‍♂️)
