Unfortunately, the EHDS compromise will expose everyone’s medical records to unnecessary security and privacy risks in the name of research and “innovation”. It mandates every hospital and every doctor to share the private medical data from every single patient—for the purpose of secondary use, i.e. unrelated to the patient’s treatment—with a national agency, the so-called health data access body. #HealthData#EHDS: Today the EU Parliament rejected my amendment to ask patients orally before sharing their patient records for research and product development. Apparently Social Democrats, Christian Democrats and Liberals prefer complicated opt-out procedures that nobody uses.

A pan-European consortium is gathering data from over 1 million patients to tackle cardiovascular diseases head-on by personalizing its prevention and treatment.
iCARE4CVD, now funded by @IHI, brings together 33 global partners for this effort with SIB’s Vital-IT group providing invaluable expertise in data harmonization and federated analysis.
