There are a 8 features specific to #IceCubesApp and 7 features specific to #ivory that I am really keen about. Since neither implemented them all, I continue to use both.
@ivory is there a possibility (in the future) to remap the cool Mentions button on the iPad version? I really like it but would love for it to access my lists instead. 👌🙏 #mastodon#ivory
I’ve been running my own Mastodon instance for over a year now and it’s been a fun hobby, but I think I’m going to migrate to another (larger) instance and bring mine down. It’s been fun though!
Hopefully whatever other federated server I set up can be used by #Ivory. I know there are a couple that have implemented that Mastodon API specifically for that reason.
Grad gelesen: angeblich hat Mastodon eine total große und aktive science-community. Das ist, äh, interessant. 🤔 Ich such die nämlich buchstäblich seit Monaten.
@shepgo@sezduck The #ivory development cycle is so slow that I don’t see any of it happening anytime soon. I hope I am wrong. My sub is up in January and the way things are moving I don’t see a renewal in my future. We shall see.
Figure I might give a paid app a try. So far I'm loving the bug-free experience -- something the free apps haven't provided in my experience. Timeline syncing across devices is a killer feature, too.
@Dylan@ivory I tried it when it first came out. I found it was probably the most polished, but other apps are still pretty good, and improving all the time.
My wish list is:
threading
quote toots
edits (not just delete and retoot)
GIF integration
The biggest negative for #Ivory in my case is that the macOS app is a separate purchase. I have to spread my support 💰 around a bit, including my instance server.
Switched out of @ivory to take a picture of my cat sitting in a box and it decided I should now be at “now” in the Local timeline instead of about 7 days back. D’oh!
There is a new feature of Mastodon that I wanted to highlight for you all.
I had no use for the Lists feature before- but as of the recent 4.2 update, you can put some people you follow into a list- and then you can check a box in that list's details to NOT SHOW their posts in your main feed.
This could totally change Mastodon for me, in the best way.
I follow some newsy-political accounts, and often rush by them in the feed if I'm not in the mood to hear (more) bad news. Now I can put them in a list and not see them at all in and among the feed of real thoughts, pictures, artwork and jokes you amazing people share.
And when I actually feel like engaging with the news/politics of the world, I can pop over to that list and see only that stuff in there.
This way you can have customized feeds of different kinds of accounts, and just see your tried and true favorite people in the main feed.
It's a multi-Mastodon-feed experience, separated by mood and preference.
Which for me is brilliant!
@ivory Hi guys, just thinking of something that would be really handy while writing a reply… in Apple Mail on iOS you can swipe down to park an email, and browse Mail messages. How about a similar feature in #Ivory? When reply and I forget the full message I’m replying to, it would handy to swipe down, read again and then tap/swipe up to continue my reply writing 🙏🏼
