As a , I love this line from @pitchfork’s just-published retrospective review of ’ 1983 album ‘Head Over Heels’:

“Rather than locking with the beats to form a conventional rhythm section, the is like a brocade stitched along the song’s hem, decorative and harmonic rather than propulsive and bolstering.”

Dragonforce dropped a new music video for one of the tracks off their upcoming album, "Warp Speed Warriors."

Check out the music video for Astro Warrior Anthem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPToXB8HcSs

It's got some cool sci-fi / cyberpunk aesthetics in the video. Also, as usual, a cool sound.

Okay nerds, I recently came across this track (Candy Flu) by The Walking Who

https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=I9SO0h_vKKc&si=_5-KwV4Hrr7BUjXb

Which sounds exactly like some other song but I can't think of it for the life of me.

I'm pretty sure it's a song by Brian Jonestown Massacre or Dandy Warhols or something in that genre.

Of course, BJM cranks out so much music that it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Perhaps someone with a better mental catalog of music can help.

A lot of people think I came out of the womb playing guitar. Ive been around it forever because of my dad: Meet Amber Wild, the twin-guitar rock supernova featuring Evan Stanley
Growing up with Paul Stanley as a father, it was little wonder Evan would pursue a career in rock but hes got to admit that it was Nirvana not Kiss who first lit his guitar fire

This week's Tune Tuesday by @Kitty has a theme of Local Bands from @HauntedOwlbear.

So, I'm going to be that guy about the local band I recommend.

My brother is the lead singer of a local act from New York City called Hide and Seek. They're kind of a blend of blues and rock.

Check out their album, Found You, here: https://songwhip.com/hideandseek2/found-you

- – Here Comes the Rain (2024). This new release by the stalwart English rock band finds them in hyperdrive on the bracing opener, "Run into the Shadows" and string-embellished "Some Kind of Treachery." Brethren like Styx and Marillion echo in Magnum's supersized arrangements, with tight harmonies and huge choruses.

Sadly, the album is a swan song for songwriter-guitarist Tony Clarkin, who died January 7, five days before the release date.

- – Learning to Crawl (1984). After the deaths of original Pretenders Pete Farndon and James Honeyman-Scott, Chrissie Hynde carried on with drummer Martin Chambers and newcomer Robbie McIntosh, who added Bakersfield twang in place of Honeyman-Scott's rockabilly. "Middle of the Road," "Back on the Chain Gang" and "Show Me" reaffirmed the Pretenders as perhaps the most traditional of the post-punk firebrands chewing up the airwaves.

- – Lifes Rich Pageant (1986). Lacing their trademark jangle rock with harder-edged guitar and drums, the now roadworn REM begin their ascendance to mainstream popularity on "Begin the Begin," "Cuyahoga" and the concise, haunting "Fall on Me." Social justice and historical injustice are themes implicit in Michael Stipe's lyrics, as bassist Mike Mills asserts his keening tenor on the bridge to "Fall on Me" and soaring cover of "Superman."

Hit Me with Your Best Shot b/w
Prisoner Of Love by Pat Benatar (1980)

The second single released off of her second album Crimes Of Passion and written by Eddie Schwartz, Hit Me With Your Best Shot reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the States, and became a Top 10 track in Canada. Selling over a million copies, it was certified Gold by the RIAA in the States and Silver in the U.K.

Schwartz commented that he wrote it after attending a pillow punching therapy session in Toronto. Benatar no longer performs the song, as a protest against the gun violence epidemic in the United States.

Side B of the picture sleeve single. Text reads Hit Me With Your Best Shot b/w Prisoner of Love in black uppercase and double quotes. The covers of her first two albums, In The Heat of The Ni
