It's a clear sign of the antisemitism at the United Nations that they didn't blast this change out to every major news agency in the world.
"According to data published May 6, of the 34,735 people who have died in Gaza, more than 9,500 were women and more than 14,500 were children. Two days later, the United Nations reduced those figures to 4,959 women and 7,797 children killed while maintaining that the overall number of more than 35,000 deaths in Gaza remains unchanged."
@michael_martinez Another clue that the old numbers were wrong is that they add up to only 10k men dead, less than IDF's number of militants it has killed. Which of course doesn't include those killed by Hamas, PIJ rocket misfires etc.
(And if anyone passing by wants to come at me saying you don't trust IDF's numbers, ask yourself why you trust Hamas')
These proportions are at least plausible. The new blood libel narrative has been established though. Well done UN.
Warrants could be issued this week against Netanyahu, Defense Minister #YoavGallant and army chief #HerzlHalevi. Some legal experts say the attorney general and army lawyers are partly to blame for not doing enough to prevent Israeli violations of #InternationalLaw
...balance of power was not in their favor. 👉The Arab states were too weak to
confront #Israel when it inevitably attacked them👈, rather than the #Palestinian insurgents, in response to Palestinian attacks. So it was, and remains, 👉smarter to keep the insurgency within the borders of Mandatory Palestine. That requires keeping the Palestinians where they are."👈
...in which #Arab leaders have accepted their weakness in material and military affairs and sought to normalize with a much more powerful, Western-backed #Israel.
By contrast, the #Iranians, #Hamas, #Hezbollah, the #Houthis and others chose a more religiously-sound approach. They accepted that the #US could overwhelm them with high-tech “shock and awe” aerial attacks. 👉They chose to focus instead on delivering...
1080 kHz: Arab music, fairly strong, would've been better if I could improve my NE SuperLoop to null Cadena SER better. Anyway IT WASN'T THERE IN THE AFTERNOON!!! Another Israel reactivation for the #WARINGAZA? KAN MaKan? #mediumwave#mwdx
Indeed, MWlist has two NMA El-Bernameg Al-Aam transmitters listed on 1080, both at just 10kW, Al-Minya @ 2823km, and Luxor @ 3128km. This affirms me I have heard both, and makes for TWO NEW LOGS, even though they shouldn't be there! 😂 #mediumwave#mwdx
Yesterday, I posted a reply to the, IMHO, unbalanced view of respected German philosopher, #JürgenHabermas*.
As he chiefly saw the #Jewish side of the conflict, I tried to balance this, taking all sides legitimate interests into account, while adding the civilian Palestinian perspective.
Today, I came across an excellent recent op'ed in the #NYT by #ThomasLFriedman, who--
This analysis actually makes very much sense to me, and yet I fear, everything will take the worst possible way:
As long as Netanyahu's coalition holds, he won't resign.
Dead bodies will continue to pile up and there will be no step towards a political solution, I fear, and all this plays into the hands of Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran etc.
"Online and on-screen reactions to the conflict reflect a subtle
but important shift in Western attitudes, driven by three related
forces: technology, demography
and ideology."
Support for #Israel in the #US and many #European countries is set to decrease over the long term, as memories of WWII wane and immigration of non-Jews...
...from the #NearEast in particular and Muslim countries in general has been increasing.
MY TAKE:
This point in time might ironically be the best for the #Israeli government to find a long-term solution for #Palestine and find peace with the #Arab world.
The reason is that support for #Israel will quite likely not be as high ever again.
Bombing the #Gaza strip back to "the Stone Age," even if #Hamas were to be eradicated, should prove very detrimental to #Israel +...
Even while Western governments' opinion remains steadfastly pro-Israel, public opinion in many countries is edging towards support for the #Palestinian cause in many countries.
Last week's riots at the airport of #Dagestan, which must be read as a #pogrom against #Jews, is a clear warning sign.
