On 1 May 2004, the citizens of 🇨🇾 🇨🇿 🇪🇪 🇭🇺 🇱🇻 🇱🇹 🇲🇹 🇵🇱 🇸🇰 🇸🇮 became citizens of the EU.

Since then, we have witnessed growth and prosperity. Real wages have doubled from 2004 to 2023 in these ten countries, while poverty levels have halved.

Our Union has benefitted from more innovations. The free movement of goods, services, capital and people, have brought greater opportunities for people and businesses.

As with , , and other places, not the country or even its peoples are the problem but the often illegally elected regimes or their actions contrary to international law and in violation of human rights.

That said, I do hope that the "leaders" of the aforementioned countries, including 's, will be ousted sooner rather than later.

I'd go even further re/ "de-escalation," though:

The needs a face-saving "victory" against the aggressor, at least for it's populace.

This is wrong. Even while Chamberlain was signing the Munich Agreement in 1938, he was agreeing to a huge increase in spending to increase Britain’s armament in preparation for war.

The big problem with the State of the Union speech was that instead of speaking to the whole country about the whole country, it focused on speaking to his own choir about himself and his reelection.

That’s why people are criticizing it as a campaign speech.

If you’re a Biden supporter, realize that the speech did not invite non-supporters, including independents, to join in his efforts. It appealed only to those already on board, which is not productive in terms of actually getting those efforts done.

In other words, if you’re in favor of what Biden was calling for, you too should be critical that this won’t help get those things done.

The speech seemed focused on helping nobody… except Joe Biden’s personal reelection.
