Periwinkle (vinca major) plants make great ground cover. They suppress weeds, keep moisture in the soil, have pretty flowers in the spring and provide attractive foliage for 10 monthsof the year. They're super-easy to grow (at least here in Bulgaria, Zone 7B) and require zero work.
My kind of plant! :-)
They're even easy to propagate through tip rootings. I've planted them in many places in my permaculture garden and foodforest orchard.
My rain barrel experiments continue. I managed to get a vinyl "portable" rain barrel to add alongside my 60 gallon traditional plastic barrel. I connected them using spare bits of hose between their drain taps. After a decent shower just now I have about 45 gallons in one and about 30 gallons in the other. I think a shorter hose joining them, or even a solid pipe would solve the pressure/fill balancing issues but it is already more water than I could capture before!

I am not an engineer, but it seems quite logic that the reflective capabilities of the #SolarPanels will also protect the organic #soil from #erosion by rain, sun, and to some degree, wind.
