The #AngloSaxon capitalist model ruined earth for humanity and many other species. #BigOil has been its undertaker, b/c #BigOilKnew.
If capitalism hadn't made the #GreenRevolution possible, human society would already have reached the #overshoot (1) point at the end of the last century:
In 1968, the #biologists Paul and Anne #Ehrlich wrote the book The #PopulationBomb"...
If you go through my thread, you will see that #WaruWaru has been used in the #Andean Highlands for thousands of years, #Oxfam is promoting projects in #SouthAmerica, and #Agrivoltaics has been around for decades.
It is all there. It is simply not being used enough.
Report on one of the earliest known circular plazas in #Andean#SouthAmerica & one of the earliest examples of #megalithic ceremonial #architecture in the Americas. This is constructed of large free-standing & vertically placed megalithic stones - located in #Cajamarca basin of northern #Peruvian#Andes. This construction method has never before been reported in the Andes & is #distinct from other monumental circular plazas in the region.
'authors of a new study published in Science Advances have pinpointed a genetic variant that may have helped this population adapt to life at extraordinary heights. Tibetans in the Himalayas possess a different mutation in the same gene, suggesting both groups independently evolved similar adaptations to high-altitude living. The finding demonstrates “how evolution can sometimes favor common solutions to a common problem,” says Graham Scott, a physiologist at McMaster University who wasn’t involved in the study.'
"A study uncovered mummified mice on high-elevation #Andean#volcanoes, revealing that 👉 mammals can survive in extreme, #Mars-like conditions. This finding challenges our understanding of vertebrate life’s physiological limits👈 and prompts further research into these mice’s survival mechanisms.
IMO, combining the German invention of #agrivoltaics with the ancient and proven #Andean agricultural, water-management, and flood-control system of #WaruWaru could solve food, water, land, and green energy challenges in all parts of the globe where there still will be sufficient annual #precipitation.
Nova Scotia is one of the recent geographic areas to learn about the Clausius-Clapeyron relationship we've been trying to warn everyone about for decades.
Warmer air can hold more moisture that it can suddenly precipitate.
Hope y'all are alright up there and can safely dry out and recover.
Our Farmworkers Deserve Better Are we ready to listen? https://www.yesmagazine.org/issue/thirst/2023/05/18/farmworkers-deserve-better The World Bank has described agricultural development as “one of the most powerful tools to end extreme poverty Conservation organizations report that sustainable agricultural operations can help preserve & restore habitats, protect watersheds & improve soil health & water quality Expanding urban agriculture can even help fight racism and increase health equity. #sustainability#farmworkers#Environment#Conservation
The major indigenist journal Amauta (1926-30) had Indigenous writers in it. Francisco Chukiwanka Ayulo, a Quechua lawyer from Puno, Peru, fought to return Indigenous land back and even created a Quechua-Aymara alphabet. He even had direct bloodline to the Incan nobility. Chukiwanka Ayulo wrote in "Amauta" about the need to support Indigenous peoples and he was a friend of esteemed indigenist José Carlos Mariátegui. #peru#indigenous#inca#native#andean
The solution to our current #drought problems in many areas might have been with us for 2,300 years at least, probably first developed by the #Tiahuanaco culture of the #Andean...
Yes, I was quite angry, when I read it. We could've head a second #GreenRevolution FOUR DECADES ago.
But it gets even better than that. We could have had an agricultural revolution for arid landscapes outside of the #Andean regions 490 years ago: in 1532 the conquistador Francisco #Pizarro captured the Sapa #Inca#Atahualpa#Cajamarca. A year later, the #Spaniards could have told the #ReyesCatólicos of #Spain about the advanced...
I might be biased, but I think the subject of #agrivoltaics and its (in my view) so far ignored combined use with the #Andean agricultural method of #WaruWaru (also called #camellones in Spanish) would be a game changer for #agriculture in many regions.
