Graeme Park grew up in Aberdeen in the 1960s and 1970s and was one of the pioneers of house music as well as working at the famous Hacienda in Manchester. He’s a remarkable character, but he lost his teenage son to cancer a year ago and spoke poignantly about this family tragedy. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/6409600/aberdeen-dj-graeme-park-hacienda-son-death/

This weekend we walked the Aberdeen costal path and explored the city centre. The art gallery was amazing! The colour of the granite used in the old buildings was so devoid of colour, even in the bright sunshine. A relaxing getaway.

Cliffs with interestingly coloured layers of rock in them, seen from a vantage point along the Aberdeen coastal path.

Tetris (2023)

A highly fictionalised account of how Tetris (the video game) was licensed worldwide, for multiple platforms, from its inception in the crumbling Soviet Union.

The film succeeds in making the contract twists and turns highly entertaining and suspenseful. The main characters are very sympathetic, and skilfully portrayed.

Highly recommended.

Almost the entirety of the Tetris movie was filmed in Scotland. Apparently, several Scottish locations were ideal stand-ins for Soviet era Moscow. The locations included:

  • Prestwick Airport (Moscow Airport)
  • The Anderton building, Glasgow (Moscow apartment block)
  • South Lanarkshire Council building (Mirror Group newspapers)
  • Two buildings Morrison St., Glasgow (the Kremlin)
  • Zoology Building, Aberdeen Uni (Elorg HQ).
