Question for the new-diseases community:
#ticks #LymeDisease #pandemics #disease #disability #crippling #HorrorStory #arachnids #SpidersWeeFriends #BigRedBlotcthes #LifeChanging #Arachnology #dogs #pets #sheep #cats #deer #cattle #farming #farmers #children
Is the increasing number of ticks related to the decreasing number of birds, itself related to climate change?
What are we to do about the ticks??

@waiting4indy I reckon it’s related to the increasing numbers of deer, many more than forty years ago, AND climate change allowing them to be active for more of the year. At a bit more effort is now being made to bring down deer numbers.

Crazy all you can see with a microscope objective and some 3D printed camera adapters.

not sure what the magnification is, but for reference the spider is roughly 2 or 3mm long.

And I'm not sure, but I think that might have been a baby spider walking around it.

An extreme close up macrophoto of a tiny brown spider hanging on to its web. To its right is what appears to be a baby spider.

So here I am, walking in a tropical forest in Tamil Nadu, and Baron Samedi in spider form descends upon me!

IANA arachnologist, but it looks like a Nephila Pilipes, a giant golden orb weaver.

Not sure what to hashtag with this question, but is there anyone out there who knows anything about / ? This guy has been in my yard for a couple of days and I was curious what it is, and if my dog and I should keep our distance.
