I like this debate in the #apple community on whether the AVP is a flop or not, as if the existence of the debate doesn’t answer the question.
Of course it’s a flop. Despite low numbers made, it never seemed to sell out and was available for next day pickup in store shortly after launch. Third party developers are reporting hilarious sales numbers, like triple digit numbers for indie apps with real nerd appeal.
But the big reason you know it’s a flop is I don’t hear anybody in the EU desperate to get one. Consumers here read all the reviews, got all the first hand impressions and came away with the conclusion “eh”. People should be desperate to get them and instead I’m not even sure if it’s worth Apple launching here.
It’s fine, Apple has flops just like everybody else and sometimes revision 2 or 3 of the same product hits big. The first iPod was weird and incredibly niche but it got smoothed out.
You can still really enjoy your AVP and also acknowledge that it clearly didn’t light the world on fire.
Whatever the case, both my wife (who found the Quest 2 hard to use) and I found that the Quest 3 was much easier to use (lighter and fits better and easier to put on/remove) and the best movie watching experience we’ve had in AR/VR so far …
I also found that the Quest 3 works beautifully with glasses. Compare that to AVP which won’t work with glasses at all.
If you have a Vision Pro and like Star Trek (which you do, duh!) be sure to check out The Archive app. Lots of immersive panoramas of ship’s bridges (every Enterprise and a few other ships like Voyager and Defiant) and a few 3D models and walk throughs. #avp#startershttps://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-archive/id6472772587
Here's a useful thing to know and try for the Vision Pro that will greatly enhance your hand gesture/pinch accuracy, especially in low light.
Put an infrared light in the room. The one pictured is a floodlight type that I had multiple of because I put some up to enhance night vision on security cameras outside.
Tim Cook: "the most important thing about Apple Vision Pro is how it enriches our customers’ lives — strengthening connection, unlocking potential, and empowering people to accomplish things that simply wouldn’t be possible any other way."
Appears the device has a bit to go before it can live up to this, but it is one compelling vision statement. I'm totally looking forward to the last item on that list. #apple#visionpro
@J12t probably already does the latter for many situations? My grandparents never experienced a mountain in Hawaii and certainly cannot now. They can on #avp
Midnight Solve is in the App Store for Vision Pro from my indy company Midnight Beep Softworks.
This app helps to solve Wordle like word puzzles between 3 and 9 characters long and with the ability to import work lists (such as urban dictionary).
While solving a puzzle yourself is fun, if you're trying to make your own puzzles and solutions it's helpful to be able to test them and experiment quickly.

For the lady who has everything, the Dream Loader is a dream come true, highly useful for heavy lifting or fighting off Xenomorph Queens. Seriously though, this is the crossover we never knew we needed. #Alien#Aliens#JamesCameron#AvP#SciFi#80s#AliensExpanded
