To recap: using the native #Discord client on #macOS, each time my partner opens a stream, her #MacBook Air would slow to a crawl or even crash entirely, and she'd need to reboot and just no longer able to watch the stream, other than to switch to her PC.
The (shocking) solution: on her MacBook, use Discord through #Firefox instead. I doubt that it needs to be Firefox, perhaps #Safari would do too, but she used Discord on Firefox and her Mac's able to watch streams on Discord just fine now. She even said she's never experienced Discord this smoothly on her Mac before lol so if anyone has had any issues with Discord on their Mac recently, maybe try using the web client instead.
we're experiencing about 5 spam attacks per day on #discord promoting teen porn and steam scams, and it's only getting worse lately. you'd think they could easily implement automatic detection for that, but nah, why would they, when they can slap more nitro promotions instead. absolutely dysfunctional platform...
My partner and I have been so behind our anime/shows we watch bcos her #MacBook Air just couldn't keep up w just abt anything anymore, especially watching a stream on #Discord. Her Mac would just slow to a complete halt the moment she enters a stream, even when I stream it at 480p. The only way we'd be able to watch then is if she's at her desk on her PC, but that doesn't happen as much as when we're not fasting (lunch on weekends and dinner ~daily, whereas while fasting almost neither).

Hey tech/SM companies: when you send an email out summarizing changes to your ToS/Policies, don't just tell us what SORT of things were changed, summarize WHAT YOU CHANGED. FROM WHAT, TO WHAT.

How do you figure out what font(s) Discord desktop is using? Mine currently displays Japanese and Chinese text as Unicode "oh noes, I can't find a glyph" rectangles. There aren't any font settings in the app other than size. 🤷
Llevo tiempo pensando en probar nuevas redes y formas de comunicación. Una de ellas es #matrix que si bien tengo entendido es como el discord open source y mucho mas privado. Sin embargo, si me metiera en un servidor de esos, no conoceré a nadie y como son como "pequeñas burbujas" de temas pues no se si encajaría.
Alguien sabe algo mas a cerca de los servidores y en general de #matrix o de algun servidor así de cosas de video juegos/cibersecurity/temas de física-matemática interesantes? Me da igual que sea en ingles, español o francés vaya.

Tengo creada una pequeña comunidad de #Matrix que hace de respaldo a la de #Discord con ajustes más sencillos pero de momento hay pocos usuarios allí, que la mayoría siguen enganchados a lo segundo.
Comparto ahí principalmente cosas de videojuegos y tecnología, y cae alguna de ciberseguridad por extensión.

it's kinda hard to consciously and consistently say "guild" instead of "server" (which is tempting to say because that's what #discord calls them) for discord but that's really what they are, guilds. #server implies #selfhosting which you can't really do in discord so i refuse to tow the discord partyline :koishtare:
