I ❤️ where this is going (incl. quite a few incoming additions to https://thi.ng/shader-ast-stdlib) - but still lacking the language to describe what's going on here...
I'm doing a generative sound installation doofer later in the year in which I want to use some recordings of Lincolnshire Dialect poetry somehow.
I've got off to a tentative start - but this at least gives me a foundation to build on I think. I thought folks here might like to see how it develops, so I'll pop a very occasional update in here if there's any interest 😉
Looking forward to just building more elements into the set bit by bit and then seeing how they can fit together...
Some more results of my terrain editing and generation experiment.
Here the shape of the rocks is changed, while the height field is kept the same.
Combined with changing colors, textures, size of edge bevels etc I think this will be able to create a large variety of rock styles. It is also possible to interpolate between rock shapes for even more variety.
I've added now added smooth normals and some simple curvature based coloring to my terrain editing and generation experiment. Makes it a bit more readable and nicer looking.
Here's a GIF showing the height of rock columns being adjusted. Blocks of rock can be added and removed, but also sliced vertically for more fine grained adjustments.
Good weekend of work. 6x9 set of d4 dice generated numbers translated into 54x3cm red triangles. The 216x1.5cm black triangles are the same d4 numbers set symmetrically over the red pattern. #generativedice#generative#linocut#dataviz#dataart
