So, I’m personally not that excited about #Threads as a product, nor am I all that worried about it doing something bad for the #fediverse. Hey oldtimers, there was this chat client I used to use back in the 90s. It had a gray interface and an alert noise that sounded like a canary hiccuping whenever you got a message. Your contacts were available in this gray list and you could press them. It was not AIM. It think it was IRC based but it didn't have the greenscreen interface and did direct messaging mostly.

This tracking stuff on the Internet is past ridiculous. I notice that when I pull up my Orders page on Amazon, uBlock blocks 133 items. When I pull up Accuweather for my town, it blocks 273 items.
Here on Mastodon, both uBlock and Privacy Badger read zero. Funny how that is.
I just realized how pointless Linktree is when I have my own website where I could just make a page with all my links and if linktree explodes I don't care.
Then, depressingly, I just realized how reluctant people are to click on unknown URLs, and it's probably best to use linktree for name recognition...sigh...

Doing anything every vaguely #niche, like #hobby electronics, in a small #city in the middle of #nowhere used to be quite difficult in terms of obtaining #supplies and #parts. Before the #internet, if you could plan ahead and order enough stuff at once from a big #distributor to make the #shipping charges worthwhile, #catalogs from DigiKey etc were life savers.
