I'm currently trying to migrate a #mastodon server from masto.host to self-hosted and having problems (I already shut down the server, so I'm posting from an old account).
Does somebody know which files in the backup are which in the mastodon migration guide?
I'm also having trouble with restoring the PostgreSQL backup ('pg_restore: error: connection to server on socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432" failed: FATAL: Peer authentication failed for user "mastodon"').
Thanks for any help!
(It would be nice if someone could boost this, because given that this is an old account, I don't think many people would see this post otherwise.)
🚨 NEW REPORT "From Cutro to Pylos: what two shipwrecks reveal about Europe’s deadly migration policies"
Our report looks back at the Cutro and Pylos shipwrecks to reveal how EU migration policies led to these tragedies. We show how, in both accounts, the shipwrecks occurred despite advanced knowledge of the situation from a combination of Frontex surveillance and NGO alerts.
A stopping point on the way to Australia? 'thousands of stone artefacts and animal bones in a deep cave in Timor Island has shed light on the timing and nature of early human migrations through Indonesia to Australia.'

"The site of Laili is especially fascinating as it demonstrates a large human population settled on the island between 49-43,000 years ago,” Griffith University’s Research Fellow Kasih Norman
'The occupation of Laili therefore appears to be part of the large-scale migration of modern humans that took place across the globe between 70-40,000 years ago.'
Greater spotted #eagles changed their #migration routes to avoid the Ukraine war.
'researchers believe the Greater Spotted Eagles skirted around dangers including artillery fire, jets and tanks as well as buildups of troops.'
...
'The findings reveal they made large deviations from their previously tracked routes. They also spent less time stopping at their usual refuelling sites in Ukraine or avoided them entirely.
'As a result, they traveled farther, about an extra 52 miles (85km) on average.'
Even the eagles have changed their route to avoid the Ukraine war, when will people realize the futility of war and put an end to it?
Eagles changed their migration routes across Ukraine to avoid fighting and because their habitats were likely damaged or destroyed by war, say scientists.
Been adding more #autoethnography to teaching & this piece caught my eye. However not sure when I'll be able to read, seems like such a gut-punch:
"intergenerational relationships & #transnational#care shaped by global #migration & aging. I reflect on the dynamics of my relationship with my mother, beginning with my departure from my home & spanning a period of 40 years. I contemplate theoretical models of intergenerational solidarity, ambivalence, & role ambiguity..."
My husband and I are on our annual spring #camping trip to enjoy the bird #migration. There have been so many fabulous tropical #birds who have come through southern #Wisconsin southern far this year. This Wood Thrush, one of my favorite species, has been serenading our campsite for over an hour. #birding#birdwatching#nature
Migrant care workers are being betrayed by the tied-visa system that bought them to the UK... when sponsors are striped of their license, it tis the care workers who are effectively punished - forcing them into a precarious race for alternate employment.
This is just one part of a national political hypocrisy on 'economic migration'... we want/need workers to fill posts, but some just want to punish them for coming here;
They are calling for “innovative ways” to address migration & migrant smuggling...such as increased cooperation between the EU and #NATO, and more #deportations
