A pair of my favorite jeans developed a hole in the knee. This led to me to learning about , a beautiful art of visible mending. This inspired me to create this plotter design.

Inspiration is everywhere!

Tonight's project:
A hole in my favorite jeans.

I've cleaned up the hole and snipped frayed thread. It's ready for me to find a patch and start sewing!!

DeliaChristina,

Jacked up success!!
The stick on sashiko pattern (which washes off later) and embroidery loop was sooo helpful. I've tried this before without any of the right tools and it was an exercise in domestic frustration.

I sized the patch and sashiko piece right.
The placement was better than my prior attempts at this.
The edges are wonky because I need to get more dexterous with my needle and fabric (it's been a while).

But overall this looks great! Yay me!

After breakfast and a bit of house tidying, I decided it’s time for a bit more of my sashiko class.

Apart from being better for the environment, periodic of reusable fabric has provided me:

• instant gratification from a quick/easy project in between larger projects;

• experimentation using different guides & feet in different ways;

• practice sewing straight lines without guides and with imperfections not mattering much;

• etc.;

But mostly, sewing reusable fabric napkins has been essential in providing me with much needed from bigger projects! 😜

At stack of freshly sewn 9-inch reusable cotton/linen napkins with mitred corners and half-inch hems sit atop a large cutting mat. The top napkin shows the underside of the napkins.

Hooray! Finished my Christmas sampler. Really enjoyed it, but still lots of refinement needed. I pulled my threads too tight so it has distorted a bit. Going to try some smaller patterns next I think.

day. I finally finished stage one of the stitching project, the big fabric areas now move as one, thanks to the stitching.

There are still some areas around the collar I want to cover, but I am not sure whether I should "draw" a white or dark blue line in couching technique on top or just cover up my 2mm lapse with some spectacular line pattern. If I draw in too much fabric, the jacket might not fit anymore, though.

for years and years.

Back of the samue, patched all over in blue-colored leftovers. Sashiko patterns in white crotchet yarn cover about one quarter of the surface.
What nobody ever gets to see: The inside of my jacket. The layers of mending are clearly visible: The right jacket has been mended and stitched over quite ofter, as have the sleeves. Also, the shippou-circles make it quite obvious that I went over them repeatedly and not always managed to keep the existing pattern correct.

My sashiko embroidery is coming along nicely 🌸🪡 This design is less work-intensive than the geometric design that I did last time so progress is faster. It is lovely to spend time on the sofa with Molly, quietly stitching away.

Molly the brown tabby cat is lying on my lap, draped in a piece of dark blue fabric with white embroidery in the design of Japanese cranes.

<About this pattern>
"The blue ocean wave" is a pattern that reminds us of the bounty of the wide ocean, and the pattern of endless waves is an auspicious pattern that contains wishes for happiness that will continue into eternity and for people's peaceful lives.
