I was rummaging through old photos and found this testimony of how I started (and then got hooked on) #VisibleMending. Moths had eaten holes in my favourite jumper. I was furious and swore revenge with a needle. Since I couldn't embroider properly or be accurate, I "needle-painted" yarn moths. Today, everyone thinks the jumper is an expensive designer piece. 🤭
🧵 1/ My new #VisibleMending project: This linen-yarn T-shirt is a memento of my dog, who once got stuck at the bottom with his claw and tore a hole. It's darned in the shape of a yellow beetle. To make the whole thing more harmonious, I'm going to do a few small appliqués elsewhere today. @visiblemending
Yesterday I found a piece laminate in my basement and decided to build 🛠️ a small box for my stuff. For the box I used only parts I already had ♻️. It's a good project for beginners 👍.

It turns out paper cups can be just as toxic as conventional plastic ones. Kudos to the companies that bake edible cups made of waffles or biscuits or use an origami-like technique to fold paper into cups.
Mt. Everest is laden with waste left by climbers — Nepal's Department of Tourism estimates that there are nearly 140,000 tons. Now, some of that material is finding its way to Tharu craftswomen who combine discarded ropes with moonj, a traditionally harvested wild grass, to make boxes and mats. NPR's Tanka Dhakal explains more about how the program works, and how its organizers hope it will grow.
I have a lot of plants 🍃. So I decided to build a small shelf for them 📐. This is my result from last weekend 🛠️. I used only "old" materials that I already had.
In our Sunday animations in the #culturalHeritage centre, I finished my #visibleMending project: a #secondHand jacket with a completely scuffed collar. For a better look I fixed 2 more patches. All people were very curious. Then the reactions:
⭕️ I would never dare to wear s'th with patches.
⭕️ I never had the time (but they have time for TV, social media etc.) @visiblemending@sewing
Last night I dreamed that I found a ratty point-of-sale or similar device at an estate sale or garage sale or in the recycling or something (unclear), and when I got it home and took it apart the thermal printer mechanism was a standalone unit connected to the rest of the machine by an RS-232 serial cable, so I was able to just pull it out and start printing stuff to it. Good times. #retrocomputing#dreams#upcycling
Do you remember my #VisibleMending project with a second hand #blazer? https://mastodon.online/@NatureMC/111884442223704931 The collar with a suede imitation was completely worn out. For contrast, I choose a chicken print from the Provence, and for harmony, more patches. It's nearly ready. Problem: the remaining collar tips are unequal. I decided to applicate different motives on them to conceal it. @visiblemending@sewing
@diy
My wife asked me to build a circle ⚪ for a self made game 🎲 for the kindergarten where she works. It was my first diy that I build on the new workbench 👍.
