WIP: Lotara Sarrin

I must have knocked her over by accident because at some point her judgemental finger fell off. Time to check the bits for a spare Necron finger to replace it with. I'm pleased with the clothing, need to shade and layer the face and the door she is standing on feels like it could use some rust.

WIP Wednesday: Deathwing

Need to get back in the habit of taking pictures as I go. Last month's free mini is on the desk currently, along with a Scout Kill Team and some Blood Angels Terminators.

The shading on the back, ass and calves is warm and cold red with same saturation. Highlights with orange.

I bit the bullet and got some of the new Army Painter paints and it was a good idea. They're so much better to work with.

"It's all pigment!"

You get this slogan for free, Army Painter.

Work in progress. Back of a miniature of a Glabrezu demon from D&D. Remaining to be painted: pincers, feet claws, back of arms. The body is red with orange ridges and black spikes. The soft body parts are white. Carapace is red. The shading on the back, ass and calves is warm and cold red with same saturation. Highlights with orange.

I've started writing up my thoughts, design, and development thinking for an ESP32 based sort-of-educational pseudo-analog synth toy/hack/plaything meant to be used with a breadboard for extras.

I'm probably tempting fate by posting about it at this point, but I had several posts in draft so thought I'd hit "go" on them anyway.

When I get the actual boards back, if the posts all suddenly disappear, you'll know it was a bit of a disaster!

Boards have arrived. Not sure when I'll get a chance to build one mind... :)

Small of what next update might bring. 😉

Still lots of work to do, and it's clearly not really fun stuff. But I know some of you will be happy to get it. 🙂

(If you want to get it sooner, buy me some coffee via my patreon!)

Charge!
Today is a day. I got all these horse dudes from the Joan of Arc board game and seeing how fast I can paint them. 16 knights and probably 8 hours so far. They have lots of small fiddly bits like saddles and armor and reins and trim that take forever. Fortunately the only thing I have left is reins, lance, and a wash
Then into my favorite bit. Basing! I'll probably do a grassy field that's been torn up by a charge. Lots of dirt clods (happy for method recs)

newest project. I didn't find a philippine sun bead (are there really none??) for the middle and decided to order a charm and attach it instead.

@Goutte an I are working on a small factorio-like game based on an hexmap.

It's in early stage of development but thanks to the new level editor we can can now draw basic levels.

Work in progress: a set of three olive utensils. This is all very hard scrap wood that's been hanging around for a year so there are definitely power tools involved. Last step is my favorite: a very close rubdown with cabinet scrapers, which leave a super-smooth tool-finished piece that can be oiled without any sanding at all because the scraper cuts the fibers instead of tearing them.

spent the last few weeks on and API Gateway, with the goal of securing a set of API endpoints deployed on the open web.

It’s both challenging and fascinating learning curve, from deployment (kubernetes/helm/openshift) to configurations and tweaking.

Working on a little experiment, with some of the prints I started from one of this year's challenges.

I've been meaning to start these for ages, but didn't have the energy until now.

Oh, this one is hard to describe. On top of one of my generative art prints, with lots of blobby shapes, I've embroidered chain stitches along the edges of one of the blobby shapes.

Today's drawing is inspired by one of my single-pen drawings I did post-op in the hospital. I shared it in last month's post.

Here's an in-progress shot.

It's a new month, so I've started new posts for my daily drawings and thoughts on Patron and Ko-fi:

Playing with adding a delicate fill, of very diluted blue ink, to this delicate pattern. I think I'm liking it, kinda. Not sure yet.

On the health front, my recovery continues to go well and I feel stronger every day.
