The bike lanes on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge are up for renewal soon and the attacks have already begun. Note that they blame bikes for the pollution emitted by cars. https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/bike-lanes-on-richmond-san-rafael-bridge-seen-as-contributing-to-pollution-traffic/

@burritojustice a 2-car J? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before

BruceHalperin,

@burritojustice yeah but I didn’t think the geometry of the Dolores Heights right-of-way allowed for 2-car trains, whether in revenue service or not

Bikes in transit, Bay Area thread:

Bring your bike on BART. However, many elevators in BART stations don’t work so I would hesitate to bring heavier bikes, e-bikes or loaded touring bikes I can’t carry.

Every other subway car has a bike area. This one is in one of the newer trains, which are much nicer.

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@skinnylatte it’s a lot easier now that the 28 goes all the way to Fisherman’s Wharf! You can easily connect to it from the 49 - or just take a Golden Gate Transit bus from downtown.

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@skinnylatte GGT technically never let you do trips within SF (until the pandemic), but because the bridge plaza is a transfer point, they would always let you get off there northbound, or get on there southbound.

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@skinnylatte The 30 gets you a lot closer than the 45. The 45 ends just before the Presidio but the 30 now goes all the way to Sports Basement.

Unpopular Bay Area food takes:

  • Swan Oyster Depot is not worth the wait
  • most of the well known foodie places are not good
  • Burmese food here is gentrified
  • Chinese food here is fine but you got to get out of San Francisco (Millbrae, South SF, Milpitas)
  • I’m tired of ‘new California cuisine’
  • the Japanese food in the city is so bad that the best ones are worse than a low end Japanese restaurant in Asia
  • nobody needs $200pp menus
BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@skinnylatte Marugame Udon, Nippon Curry, and a couple of ramen places are the only good Japanese food in SF

Roberts claims that it's "disturbing" that the Supreme Court is being called out for going beyond its scope.

What’s disturbing is a SCOTUS comparing student debt relief to the French Revolution, then traipsing around the world on the shadow Supreme Court’s dime.

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@kbeninato the plain language of the HEROES Act gives the president the authority to “waive or modify” any provision of the loans. Apparently the ordinary meaning of the word “waive” is lost on this corrupt Court.

The 24th Street BART Bay Wheels station is finally where it belongs

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@luis_in_brief It was previously located in front of the Mission Branch public library but that building is about to undergo a complete renovation for 2 years. A few months ago they moved the station to Bartlett Street just north of 24th but I guess it didn’t stick.

BruceHalperin,
@BruceHalperin@sfba.social avatar

@MLNow @luis_in_brief Yeah, I remember that. I think what changed is that there aren’t really any other good alternatives without removing parking, and Calle 24 just can’t have that, now can they?
