I think it's telling of the current landscape of the smartphone app space when the "top paid app" section is found at the very bottom of the App Store. Almost like people would be offended if you ask for money upfront even if it's a one time fee that you have access forever. Nah. Give us subscriptions, data mining, and intrusive ads.

It's heartbreaking, but I don't think my beloved Kitty is going to make it much longer. He showed up at my doorstep 10 years ago and has been a companion ever since. He was always a fat cat, as you can see in this photo from two years ago, but lately he's lost a lot of weight and isn't eating much. Now he's no longer cleaning himself and is so weak that he can barely take a few steps at a time. So unfortunately the best option will be to put him to sleep and end his suffering. Goodbye, Kitty.

Back when it was just called Raiders. Also this is like... new????? It still has a seal with the paramount logo to prevent the VHS from slipping out. Wild to think I'll be the first to watch this copy and got it for only a dollar.

I'm really itching to shoot some again. But it's already dark by the time I leave work and my manual camera is still in the shop. I would love to shoot all the winter stuff going on.

I also have a bunch of film I want to develop but still need to get the needed materials to develop at home. I'm waiting on my local camera shop to restock the Ilford starter kit.

Just kinda at a stand still right now.

This video - no, motion picture - is without a doubt a masterpiece.

I've never been so emotionally affected by a piece of media.

If you want to understand my fascination with EPCOT and why it shaped me so profoundly, you can learn in a visually stunning and expertly crafted way.

Recommend watching on a big screen with a good sound system.

@TechConnectify I'm right there with you. EPCOT has long been my favorite place in the world and it's driven me to be inspired and find inspiration in so many areas of my life. Plus as a person who is also heavily driven by music, this movie (yes this is more than a video!) almost feels like it was made just for me. Defunctland you did it again!

@DigitalFigment@mastodon.social avatar

@TechConnectify I'm glad you agree. I didn't mean that as a call out or have any meanness to it. Just a cheeky aside.

For me, I don't think Portra is worth it. I'm still early in my and journey so I don't think I'm going to see any real benefit from using Portra. Ultramax or FujiFilm Color 400 are probably a better choice for me at this stage. I've gotten really nice results from the rolls I've shot with them. Shooting the Portra 400 was fun but... oh man... that price. 💀

I got my first roll of Portra 400 back. This is my favorite shot from the roll. I love how photography has me looking for places around me I never knew existed. There's a whole windmill near me! How cool!

Remember as you pack away your normal depression and unpack seasonal depression to store your normal depression in a cool and dry area. Preferably in a container with a lid where no light gets in. This will help keep your normal depression fresh during the Winter and ready for the Spring.

It's funny how not that long ago there was "The Family Computer." There was only one in the house. We all had to share it and allocate time. I couldn't play my edutainment point and click games because mom was working on a spread sheet for the finances. Also those family computers were often in computer cabinets because god forbid you had company over and they saw you owned technology. Funny how times have changed. Now you have a super computer in your pocket. That's some shit.

What I learned after 6 months of developing and scanning my own film.

I’ve been messing around with film cameras for around 20 years but never really figured out how to bulk roll film or develop it (was always on my list, just never got around to it). A Christmas 2022 gift of a silly Kodak toy camera (H35) got me back into film and I decided I want to really, really learn it this time. I also couldn’t afford the $20 dev and scan per roll these days! So here’s what I did:

@skinnylatte have you tried Cinestill's monobath? Any opinions with it if you have?

Suddenly I'm wondering something.

I call disposable plastic grocery bags "Jewel bags" after the Chicagoland grocery store chain. I don't even shop there all that much these days, but any such bag is still a "Jewel bag" in my head.

Anybody else do this? Like, not Jewel specifically but your local store chain?

(Oh and, fun fact, an industry term for that kind of bag is T-shirt bag, despite it resembling a tank top if anything)
