While failing laughably at I learned just a few weeks ago that our house was ph9.5 that's really .

Here's what you can expect if you drink alkaline water:
https://youtu.be/6s5y0A0VnFc?si=K-Lr87S3wlDD4yVB

My wife developed itchiness near the special areas and so have I in slightly different areas. I think it's because we've been bathing in all this time. Has anyone in the dealt with this that can recommend a softener or filter? I noticed that our filter gives ph7.5.

@werefreeatlast which water district are you in? I'm in Northshore (Shoreline)

MHowell,
@MHowell@kolektiva.social avatar

@werefreeatlast I have not tested my water, yet, but assume it is same as yours, so have not done anything to mitigate, and i am in Lake Forest Park on the Kenmore border, just east of Horizon View park.

Besides the youtube video where other articles are available to learn of the association between alkaline water and health issues?

Back in November I wrote a story about a meandering mud spring near Salton Sea, California that ate a railroad line and a highway. I stopped in today to check on it. It hasn't moved too much in the last few months, but the old road is not long for this world.

@Mikal Great story.

Since its moving, a visitors center could be a houseboat with a gangplank to the edge. Then the attendant could charge to roll boulders into the pit.

Listening to "How Infrastructure Works" by @debcha on a road trip today and got to the part about the wind farm near Banning, CA minutes before...driving past the wind farm while eastbound on I-10!

I drive this route semi-regularly, so am familiar with the fields of turbines, but the timing cracked me up.

How Infrastructure Works is a fascinating, engaging book, think: accessible and personal explanation of the material systems that make modern life possible and how we need to change them going into the future, from a feminist perspective.

View through a vehicle windshield driving past a field of large white wind turbines with mountains in the background.

@Mikal Who knew there was a conspiracy by Japanese photovoltaic suppliers to spray paraquat on Mexican cannabis fields, driving up demand in the Emerald Triangle, as a price support?

Seems plausible.

Several people have been kind enough to respond by crafting and providing alt-text for this media, which otherwise lacks it.
Thank YOU to all of YOU!
Bonus: Whenever I notice that someone has been kind enough and thoughtful enough to take the time to respond to the tag with text, Eye boost their alt-text! 🥥

Quality has long been the enemy of Big Tech. The more quality a product has, the longer it will last, and thus the less money Big Tech will make. Sure, there is the service and repair opportunity. That’s not a bad business. It is not, though, the type of business that Big Tech has grown supersized on. Big Tech has mastered the branding of the new. You see, the juiciest and most spectacular profit is in the magical brand, the stuff you can feel but cannot touch.
https://gerrymcgovern.com/big-tech-hates-quality/

MHowell,
@MHowell@kolektiva.social avatar

@gerrymcgovern In my experience, Quality is the appeal of a product on the day it was sold, whereas Reliability is the measure of how long it will continue to function after that sale.
