Wild strawberry is lovely, but I made the mistake of putting some in the woodland bank in the alley and they took over. No matter how many I dig out there are always more in there. Now, when I remove them, I add the plants to the bits of the alley I'm ok to have covered in wild strawberry plants.

Finally a warm and sunny day on the allotment. A bit of planting and Comfrey Corner is starting to flourish.
The pond just isn't clearing due to silting from all the rain. I need the vegetation to grow a bit around it to absorb some of the run-off.
I found a skip full of compost and old decking, exactly what I needed to finish the beds!
Also scored some railway sleepers I might use to make extra mini terraces down slope.

Looking down the allotment onto the terrace, the beds are filled with soil and compost. Above the terrace in the foreground is a garden area, just starting to green up, and below the terrace you can see the bottom of the area, woodchipped and used for storage.

I was talking to a neighbour. He said he can't vote Conservative, they have destroyed the country. But he also blamed the state of the country on 'leftist councils' and immigrants.
He thinks Brexit was a good idea, despite it having fucked us all over and thinks Reform are the only electoral alternative and that the 'Far-right' is an invention of the liberal media.
He thinks Trump did a good job as president and that anthropic climate change isn't real.
I prefer cats to people.

I'll leave with you with something to giggle about. He was so busy not running the country, Sunak's team had the bright idea to do a heavily stage-managed interaction with the plebs, by "surprising" people who thought they were seeking independent financial advice. They were so proud of their idea they pinned it to the No.10 homepage. No one thought to check if it was illegal to impersonate a financial adviser.
Well, not quite no-one - Twitter remembered 🤣
They've deleted it now.

I just reinstalled Windows. The actual installation was easy, but what took nearly as long and was much more annoying was having to refuse all the crap Cortana was pushing my way. First thing I do when Windoze finally loads? Uninstall Cortana 😎

I don't think you can uninstall Edge as it's integral to the OS.
Doesn't matter though as I was just using a windows install as a test. Ironically I had to use a Windows install volume to clean the Linux file system after an update screwed up the installation.
I'm going to dual boot to Linux and use that in the laptop, so it's Librewolf all the way! 😎

Mmm actually I think you can uninstall it from a command prompt, but I suspect it will come back with an update. There may be a way to edit the registry to stop it but that is a bit of a dark art. I shall look into it when I have time.

A lot of the Windows app settings are about hiding from view what it continues to do, so you don't worry about it 😂

@compost My super fancy compost bin. Anyone can build one with spare materials or even just have a pile. The bin helps keep out small animals and my dog from the pile for me. Once every years a bear comes along and opens it like a cardboard box so I don't fuss about it being nice. What type of bin if any do other people use?

Thanks for sharing. I use a three stage composter made out of pallets, with lids to keep out the current very wet weather.
I also have a leaf cage (a dog crate) and a greens/weed composter made of pallets too. This means that I can vary the mix of browns/greens with kitchen & garden waste.
I also get manure from Horse Poo Mountain and hardwood ash from my brother's wood burning stove, which as well as adding nutrients, lightens up the mix quite a bit.

I was busy inspecting trees to see if the were budding yet and turned around to find this little girl watching me.
Lottie often comes to visit. She's very affectionate and will climb all over me.
Unfortunately, she also like to use my woodchip as kitty litter.

Feeding the worm farm. On the menu today food scraps, dried roses, weeds from the yard, and a lot of bedding.

Over winter the composting worms have processed so much waste, it never ceases to amaze me.

We have just for our household about 2 bins of 40 US gallons/150kg of really good worm casting that is ready to be harvested. I could have made those numbers bigger if we had more space.

What have you done for the climate today?
