Good morning fellow Mastos and hello to Thursday. Hope you slept well. I was kept awake by the rain last night, which is annoying. However MrsD got up early and has taken Wesley out for wander, so I got a lie in.

Have a belter of a day, have fun, stay safe and never laugh at other people's misfortunes. Unless they are Tories!! 😉

Today's random photo is especially for @DoubleTreble and the @weirdfolks. it's a Highland Coo, but not as you know it!

@NormanDunbar @DoubleTreble @weirdfolks Morning Norman. Love that coo. Hope you have a great day, and catch up that lack of sleep.

Come on , I need a foolproof recipe for or potato scones if you would prefer but not potato farles. The shops in Cornwall, for some reason have stopped selling them, even the tory Warburton ones have vanished. So please help a Scottish lass in exile in Cornwall to remember hame wi a good recipe and tell me how you make yours? I can get proper black pud and square sausage nae bother but hame made tattie scones have tae be the best, nae?

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen they look nice enough, thank you, I'm getting so homesick at the moment and need a reminder of this sort of thing..

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Was thinking of poached eggs as decent haggis here is a luxury. Did you see they found a piper haggis recently? An amazing wee beastie with 6 legs.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Yes, the supermarkets have their offerings but I use a Scottish butchers for all the good stuff. Although, for me, the best square sausage is from the barras but nobody knows what beef ham is, sadly.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Even the ausies knicked oor woodland haggis and turned them into drop bears. But the pipers are supposed to be the best.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Like the drone of the pipes?

The hillside ones are too easy to catch. The males with shorter left legs and the females with shorter right legs. Just chase them round the hills into nets. But no, the woodland ones sit in branches of trees waiting for passing walkers to drop on. Whereas the pipers emit a deathly squeal, rendering their prey deaf and so easier to creep up to.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Ooooooh, do tell.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen *settles down for a story, thinking about the Lambton worm of haggis.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Aaaaah, so not so wormlike so much as Arm ish?

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen and being more Southern and near the toon I suppose they bellow Haway the lads...

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Wen Hang on a sec, you don't suppose those over appreciated mates from the toon are actually Northunbrian haggis are they?

If people would just send me pictures of their homemade bread, I would both appreciate it, and be full of bread lust.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@RickiTarr A rosemary and sea salt focaccia with loads of olive oil on it while warm to soak in. I made it a little while ago. It's quite huge but was offered to my neighbours, none of it went stale let alone went to waste.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@RickiTarr Thank you gorgeous 😘

Oh, you mean the bread 😳 forget I said anything.

LMAO, sorry, I couldn't resist that.

A little while ago there was a meme with a dad kicking the boyfriend of his daughter out of the house for being a MS teams developer.

Does anyone have a copy please? My friend's son is moaning about teams...

Chief of NYPD cops clearing campus protesters: "You're dealing with children, or teenagers slash young adults, that aren't at the mental capacity you are at as professional police officers."

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@fkamiah17

Sort of.

The mental capacity of the 'children/teenagers/young adults' is far greater than the grunts of police officers beating the shit out of peacefully protesting students who can see through the rhetoric of right wing fascist confusion between being against the murdering Israeli government policy and antisemitism and those who are blindly following the same orders the Nazi SS did in WWII because they are paid to follow inhumane orders. That's what education does for you Chief.

The little things that make me smile. Nicely poached eggs on toast with too much butter and cayenne pepper, a walk on the moors, a BMW grounding out in a speed hump because it was driven too fast...

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@NormanDunbar Well, yeah okay, but I prefer it melted at least.

Foxhunting is on Sky, lying that council tax is lower under a Conservative council

She is lying because she selectively chooses to consider just band D.

More details here

https://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/factcheck-do-labour-or-the-conservatives-charge-lower-council-tax-in-england

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Geri I'm band C, end of terrace, ex council house with no parking (so no EV possibilities) and they just put it up to...£205 a month. Most people in the area are on zero hour contracts at minimum wage, this equates to about 1 x 17 hour week (if you get the hours). Just in council tax. And if you earn that much. You don't get to claim universal credit.

RosePuckey,
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@Geri I'm fortunate, at the moment, to be earning enough to get by but most of the work round the edge of Cornwall and Devon (and loads of other places too) is seasonal, zero hour contracts at minimum wage. This year, the so called season hasn't started and the holiday parks are simply not giving their employees any hours. I don't think its far off before there is no one left to work in the seaside towns and villages apart from the multiple home owners.

FFs, the youtube app has changed behaviour with how it works with chromecast. Now tapping a video doesn't pop up a "Play now/Add to queue" box, it just immediately kicks out the current video, and starts playing the one you tapped. Even if you weren't actually intending to watch it...

DO NOT WANT.

Good morning fellow Mastos and hello Tuesday. No rain today!!! MrsD is off for a swim and Wesley and I are just about to sort out breakfast and go for a wee outside. I should be ready for one by then! 😁

Have a great day folks. Don't forget to forward me any dad jokes and bad puns, you know it makes me happy! Have fun. Stay safe.

Today's random photo is from April 2023 in the Japanese Gardens in Horsforth, Leeds.

RosePuckey,

@NormanDunbar Morning from the pointy end. It's bucketing down here with quite high winds. The stronger gusts woke me up a few times but I do love listening to the wind and soon dozed off again. I hope you and Wesley enjoy your al fresco wee, I prefer the comfort of an inside loo personally.

RosePuckey, (edited )
@RosePuckey@mastodon.scot avatar

@NormanDunbar Probably a less disturbing plan as far as the neighbours are concerned.

Quite a bit of sleep loss but it's a comforting sound, like ocean waves. To me, the buffering sound of the wind in trees and against the side of my house is immersive and something I can drift back to sleep with.

Good morning fellow Mastos and hello Monday. It's sunny and dry! Until lunchtime anyway, so get your washing out and dried before then!

Have a great day everyone, don't forget to enjoy a bad pun and some dad jokes, you'll thank me later for the groans! 😉

Today's random photo is Wild Garlic. This grows in abundance around here and my garden is full of it just now. The flowers smell of garlic too, and you can eat all of the plant. Yum.

@NormanDunbar Ahhhhh, but super squirrel is some sort of weird alien shapeshifter in the form of a squirrel who could be a regeneration of Victor.
