It's possible that Meta/Threads will interoperate with the Fediverse to expand people's access to each other in purely cooperative ways, for everyone's benefit.
But history tells us that it's vastly, vastly, vastly more likely that the Meta will, borg-like, follow Big Tech's normal pattern of "embrace, extend, extinguish" -- because there's no history of giant platforms doing anything else.
So we all need to prepare, right now, for what we do about it -- and not wait until it happens.

@RickiTarr I live in SE BC Canada. I am 70 years old. I have never in my life locked the door to my house or my car. Once I had a 1 gallon gas container with a few ounces of fuel stolen from my garage that had no door. Totally worth it.
I saw a post about ADHD this morning and it made me think of this fellow I know who is self-diagnosed with ADHD. I am fairly certain that if he did actually see a psychologist or psychiatrist he would be properly diagnosed as a common asshole.
The fact that trump is worshiped by some and vilified by me makes me wonder what the worshipers see that I do not. I can only assume that they are fans of racism and hatred.

trump has stated that he wants to be a dictator. This means that if elected there will be no more elections. You will be saddled with trump until he dies then one of his kids will take over. If trump wins democracy dies, it is literally as simple as this.

I was there the day computers arrived in the workplace. It was still a decade before the first actual IT department. They literally just grabbed some woman from accounting and made her the computer person. This is the lineage of the IT department. Some poor woman who was thrown totally unprepared, for a thing she knew absolutely nothing about. It broke some of them and others thrived. It was a total crap shoot.
I know they'd only find ways around it, but why can't donations to political parties be capped? A maximum amount per individual or organisation, with company directors only eligible to donate once (either personally or through their company/partnership/charity/trust). #UKPol
@fak Political donations should be illegal. Every party should get the exact same amount to run their campaigns, this money should be provided by the government and should be funded by fair taxation. INCLUDING TAXING BILLIONAIRES AND CHURCHES!!!!

Imagine really caring what gender someone is. The only reason you would really care is if you intend to treat one gender in a different way than the other.
