In a few months, when my Apple TV+ annual subscription expires, I'll subscribe to zero streaming services.

Their incessant price hikes turned me into a once-in-a-while user, subscribing for a month only to catch up on specific stuff.

Also, Amazon's me-too greed -- making ad-free Prime Video a higher-cost option -- persuades me to drop Prime itself after ~15 years.

I'm estimating annual savings of at least $600, albeit with some added annoyance in keeping track of what's on where, and when.

Tech nerd who cut the cable before it was cool. There's lots of great options but I do Pluto, Tubi, some YouTube and use Emby as my media server for umm downloaded media..

This pisses me off. I added the red. It says if a user follows you or interacts with your content, gets to get your data.

In other words.. unless your profile is private, you have no choice once they unleash their users into the fediverse.

It may be interesting for people living on the bleeding edge testing repos and whatnot but in my experience you get a half a decent distro and you can just leave that thing on forever.. I have a quasi mint server doing media distribution I don't think I've rebooted it in over two years..lol

I got tired of hands in my pockets every other year for windows OS upgrades so I jumped ship for good around Vista and never looked back.

Unknowingly at the time that reignited my passion for tech and soon after I started my web biz that supported me for 15 years.

Props to all the distros but especially Mint that has been my rock solid desktop and dev environment for all these years.

Gotta say I've always considered password managers a single point of failure system.. to me it doesn't make sense to protect many passwords with one.. and if I'm not mistaken there were major breaches this year at pwd mgrs.

It's a pain but imho, create a scheme you can remember and stick to it. Personally I use pass-phrases from song lyrics..

    I live in NC and this is far from new. Our state govt has a democratic governor because that vote is statewide but our congess has been bright red by gerrymandering for many years driven by special interests and backroom deals.

    It's sickening that the will of the people can be ignored and abused for so long..
