Black Flag โ€“ "Six Pack" (1981)
7" 45 RPM
Original SST pressing with black & white cover

This class punk anthem reminds me of the initial appeal I found in punk rock and underground music in general. Savage mockery of the worst parts of popular American culture, as it was at the time anyway.

Angry outsiders. The innately anti-authoritarian. These are my people!

Released 43 years ago this month, as @historyofpunkrock noted recently ๐Ÿ‘Š

Back of album jacket has black hand written lyrics for all three songs, on white paper background. Band members listed in upper right corner. Below is side two of black vinyl 7" disc, with red label.

The Sex Pistols appeared at The Lesser Free Trade Hall, Manchester. The now legendary night is regarded as a catalyst to the punk rock movement. In the audience were Morrissey, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook & Mark E Smith

Which album had the greatest impact on punk rock history? ๐Ÿ‘‡

The Clash - debut album

Ramones - debut album

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables

Another?

#punkrockhistory

TheZorse,
@TheZorse@hear-me.social avatar

@historyofpunkrock

Sex Pistols. They're not my favourite, but they're synonymous with punk rock to the average person. They're also I think the most closely tied to the Punk Rock that McLaren and Westwood cooked up (style, attitude, etc.). It's a swindle! ;)

murmler,
@murmler@hessen.social avatar

@historyofpunkrock here in Germany Iโ€˜m certain that NMTB had by far the greatest impact. But fans who digged deeper in Punkrock would have choosed one of the other three. For me personally it is The Ramones. For my friend it is DK. For that other bloke it is The Clash.

gryllus,
@gryllus@ecoevo.social avatar

@historyofpunkrock As much as I hate to say it, I think Never Mind the Bollocks had the greatest impact on punk history. It's the album that got people's attention outside of the existing punk scene. I remember hearing about this horrible band, The Sex Pistols, on the evening news in the US. Of course, that made me want to hear them.

I don't think it's the best album. The Clash, Fresh Fruit, and Ramones are way better IMO.

Hardly any band has produced more socially relevant songs than the Dead Kennedys

What is your top single from the band?

For me itโ€™s definitely โ€œNazi Punks Fuck Offโ€

When I stole my uncle's recorded tape, the first song that came on when I threw it in was Kill The Poor, and I come from a rather black-humoured clan, so that tends to be what bubbles to the top for me.

That said, it was a combination of reading the titles "Too Drunk To Fuck" and "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" that made me steal the tape in the first place.

The Bad Religion Collection until 2013

A punk rock band that produced many first-class albums, but also produced some slow sellers

Which is your favorite album?

#punk #punks #punkrock #badrelegion #history #punkrockhistory

TheZorse,
@TheZorse@hear-me.social avatar

@historyofpunkrock

No Control was the first one I bought, probably 3-4 years after it came out. For the next few years I was totally crazy for Bad Religion. But, as is often the case, I lost interest when they signed to a major and adopted that style of production.

As to favourites... when I was last into B.R., Suffer would have taken that title.
