    @gedeonm I believe Europe (at least the UK) ened DST today. Adding more confusion to an already confusing situation.
    Related: If you’ve met a developer who doesn’t hate DST with the heat of 1,000 suns, that developer has never dealt with dates or times or has done so incorrectly in the bliss of ignorance.

    Today is the first day since like the middle of August where I feel I’m actually back in my routine, which still includes some adventure and new challenges, but is basically everything to me as an AuDHD creative.

    I am praying that the universe leaves me alone for at least a couple months to be healthy and functional and get some of my work done. 🙏 No more isolating crises, just productive feedback loops– jinx, knock wood, no whammy, etc.

    If the podcast advertising market is any indication, the economy sure seems to be heating up.

    Podcasts I listen to went from 3 sponsor reads to 2 to 1 to, at times. zero ads over the last year as the DTC startup ecosystem cratered. Now they’re all back up to 3. Many of the same sponsors, too, indicating that what changed is probably mostly market sentiment.

    @fahrni I think VA is having crisp fall weather like Atlanta. My unsolicited recommendation is to put on a sweatshirt, go outside, and walk for 20 minutes. Repeat as necessary every 3 - 6 hours

    @r3trofitted @st0012 @searls @hsbt I’ve tried irb a few times in the past year. I see promise but struggle to find / remember equivalents to Pry commands that are second nature.
    Any good videos or primers on irb for pry users?

    Last I looked return output wasn’t as nicely formatted in irb.
    Struggled a bit with command history buffer as well.
    Finally, the I was skilled at exiting from a binding.pry in a loop and just not quite there in irb.
    Probably just need to devote an hour to working these things out.

    The thing that frustrates me the most about Mastodon is that someone looking at the replies might not (probably won’t) see ALL the replies, so even conscientious people can reply with what they think is an original take but which has already been mentioned.

    @fahrni I had a good friend who was an independent contractor. His spouse bitched once about him hiring out the yard work. Ever since that time he would note arrival time, make sure he was actively engaged in client work, and note departure time. He would then email her an itemized statement subtracting the cost of service from his billable time while they were there. It was always a positive number.

    @emptywheel @kbsez a huge difference is that Dems are calling for a resignation, not screaming “Witch hunt”.

    It would be foolish to believe that all politicians of any party are above reproach. The best you can hope for is to look for corruption and deal with it harshly when it is uncovered.
