It has been a long time coming, but I've made it official:

"Daniel no longer answers questions on stackoverflow. Use a dedicated public curl forum for accurate and timely answers about anything . "

Great action ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. My hope is that we get more specialized pages/blogs, instead of those central places that sooner or later get way too much power. Especially if that power is based on contributions by the community. For this reason, I decided to revamp my blog (https://linux-audit.com/), specialize, and still allow to crawl it. After all, if it continues to exist, I rather want it to use knowledge of higher quality.

With all those cheat sheets for in the making, I decided to enhance the section page: https://linux-audit.com/cheat-sheets/

Other tools that should be added?

The tool can be useful, but the amount of options is overwhelming. Collecting the ones that I would use, so that I don't have to look things up next time.

Do you have other ones that you on a regular basis and that I missed?

Nice! What is the weirdest place that you found curl in/at/on?

mboelen, to HowTo
@mboelen@mastodon.social avatar

One of the best HTTP clients is the open source tool curl. With ongoing development and continuously new updates, it is worth getting everything out of this powerful tool!

https://linux-audit.com/cheat-sheets/curl/

And as a bonus: @bagder is friendly developer, and also great to follow here on Mastodon! So give the article a go and follow Daniel ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is the first version of the cheat sheet, with some practical examples. Feedback is very welcome, and boosts as well ๐Ÿš€

@mboelen@mastodon.social avatar

How I know Daniel is a friendly and funny person? I met him some years ago at a speakers dinner at Snow (NL). Had a big laugh, with him on the opposite of the table and Lennart Poettering besides him. One of the dinners I won't forget ๐Ÿ˜€

mboelen,
@mboelen@mastodon.social avatar

@bagder While refreshing blog content, I came across this one: https://linux-audit.com/web-changes-with-http2-performance-and-security/

I even blogged about the dinner, yet totally forgot that I did ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I'm working on a cheat sheet for #AWK. This nifty tool is easily overlooked, but so powerful that it really made me invest more time into learning it.

The initial version of the cheat sheet is available and ready for feedback: https://linux-audit.com/cheat-sheets/awk/

Boosts would be appreciated, and feedback even more!

What are your AWK one-liners that others really need to know and should be included?

Special thanks to @DopeGhoti

    Adding a caching layer to your app is like giving your app performance-enhancing drugs. It'll run like the horse ๐Ÿด ... until the unexpected side effects kick in, and you realize you've created a little monster. At first, it's pure magic...then your users become your QA team by accident. Always be aware of edge cases and unexpected trade-offs.

    Agree. That is why I announced it clearly on my X timeline a while back as well. If people value a person's messages/knowledge, then they might be persuaded to make the jump or at least try it out. I see in my bubble (not just Linux or security, but also sustainability) that people are coming over. Hopefully that continues, include leaving X.

    But is it sending actual data or does it want to get some resources? After all, this is related to profiler itself, so it may need to pull in some developer scripts (e.g. on first use, or the latest).
