Any suggestions on how to structure my #nixos config is very welcome. I have been trying to follow along with some of the things I have been seeing but not seen a consensus.
Today Lynis 3.1.0 has been released. Never used it before? It's a lightweight tool packed with tests to scan your Linux/Unix systems for #security and #configuration issues. It helps with auditing and system hardening your system or environment.
Navigating the complexities of cyber threats requires more than just out-of-the-box settings. Learn how intent-based configurations can lead to more resilient cybersecurity frameworks.⤵️
linux needs something like rawaccel ngl
it allows you to change all your mice to be the exact same speed AND allows you to change your acceleration curve.
and it's anti-cheat safe
You don't even need to use the acceleration, if you just want to make all your mice move at the same speed, you can.
Holy shit. I love everything about this: a cross-platform, standardized configuration language.
I have not had a chance to fully grok this. But this was definitely one of my dreams when I started Puppet. I did not want puppet to win. I just wanted something we all used, something that made us better, able to move on.
I don’t know if this is it. But it fills me with hope that people are trying.
Hey Python community, I need a good code formatter that works with VS Code. I've tried a few (autopep8, Black Formatter) but I could not circumvent their issues expanding tabs, regardless of every other possible setting in the project (I even have EditorConfig installed).
I'm looking for something that will ideally try to conform to PEP8, without being obnoxious expanding all tabs to spaces (we're not savages in this project). Thanks for any suggestions!
The Scientific-Python development guide now has a toggle for ruff-format as an alternative to black: https://learn.scientific-python.org/development/guides/style/ (And sp-repo-review checks for either and looks for deprecated Ruff config options)
Having no configuration options is one of the biggest selling points of a language-wide style tool like Black was before Ruff. By adding these options back and trying to compete in the same space as Black, Ruff is setting the ecosystem back on the progress that's been made in this area.

I've created a Neovim configuration manager which includes a rich Neovim configuration and provides a menu interface to install, initialize, manage, and explore multiple Neovim configurations. Over 80 configurations are supported. Works on macOS and most Linux distributions.

I have added this new configuration value to local.config.php and also the image is in the correct directory. Nevertheless it is not displayed when I look at a profile on my server from Mastodon. Do I have to change any other configuration values or do I have to save the image in a different directory.
'api' => [
// mastodon_banner (String)
// Banner for Mastodon API
'mastodon_banner' => '/images/friendica-xyz-banner.jpg',
]
On my own profile, I created a banner image in the Fedilab app at some point. This image is also displayed correctly, but no image is displayed on the other profiles on my instance (e.g. @wandern).
What is everyone using for #config files in #Rust? I am trying to find a #crate that supports both a file, but also overrides through env vars. I see config-rs is trying to go through a rewrite, but activity is sparse.
As a #desktop#Linux user, what’s the most onerous #configuration process that would be vastly simplified by a simple GUI tool?
For me, a tool that not only identifies #hardware but can also identify and install the correct #driver would be ideal. Missing Wi-Fi and touchpad drivers prevents me from using #OpenSUSE on ANY of my five laptops.
But I’m just a hobbyist. What say you, actual Linux power-users? Reply and boost, please!
I think what we need is the info from the configuration[statuses] section in the response. It contains info about max allowed characters per post and max media attachments per post.
A call to client.instances().getInstance() would then be all that needs to be called to get that info.
