But I'm against nuclear not because scary green glowy stuff, but because it's expensive and will displace renewables leading to the centralization of the power grid

    fun fact: if you design a product that takes a barrel-jack plug, and don't specify anywhere if it's center-positive or center-negative, you go to hell when you die

    me,
    @me@cysioland.pl avatar

    @foone why would you even do center-negative? isn't the common convention on coaxial-type deals that the outer part is the ground?

    One Android tech thing I don't understand: why still ship USB-A cables in 2023? I could maybe understand "people don't typically have USB-C bricks yet" but they include a charging brick!

    me, (edited )

    @christianselig my older OnePlus 8T shipped with a C to C cable and a C charger, meanwhile mum's newer Nord 2 shipped with an A to C cable and an A charger

    What's more infuriating to me is that not all USB-C devices implement USB PD and thus I have to use my "fake" cable to charge them

    Penn Jillette has remarked that one of the best ways to truly appreciate the USA is to partake in international travel. I definitely concur.

    Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love being other places, seeing new sights, experiencing other cultures, and eating other foods.

    But — and you can try to fight me on this even though you'll lose — the most dogshit Best Western hotel in bumfuck Ohio will still top whatever Europeans offer up as luxury lodging.

    Things that every piece of shit US hotel can manage to figure out:

    1. Air Conditioning
    2. Passably working WiFi
    3. Making the room fucking dark

    All of these are like some mystery, utterly unknown to even expensive European properties.

    me,
    @me@cysioland.pl avatar

    @deviantollam I've had the opposite experience. Hotels domestically in Poland were fairly neato, hotels in the US were hit-and-miss (mostly because y'all don't do the European-style breakfast)
