@RickiTarr Not really a dream road trip, but a template I think would be interesting: The patch of dust described thus: all of Cascadia all the way inland to the BC-Alberta border/Intermountain West, with the eastern extent being extended into the US using the mountain range that bounds BC to the East, from 54° 40min N to the southern extent of Oregon (line extended east as required). Within that, stopping at every settled place with a population over 100. Unless it’s over 5000, I won’t be stopping for any longer than to take a self-portrait, unless that’s where the campsite nearest the 5k town is.

Start point: I already live in the start point town, which is Prince George, BC, just under 54° North and 122° West.

Thinking about how Mozilla is "pivoting to AI" but DeepSpeech, one of the very few "AI" products you could possibly find a positive use for (pure-local speech recognition), is not only a Mozilla product but so abandoned that you actually have to downgrade to Python 3.9 to run it

When people keep yammering about Israel I can only think about how it’s not nearly as important as Lithuania when it comes to WW III. As a NATO state pushing overt troops into Ukraine after the nuclear red line should be enough to do it.

Scotland is just a place where it’s acute. circa 65 hectare farms (common here, and cheap if you already have money to buy a house) are for deserts and steppes (to better harvest what little rainwater there is and turn it into groundwater for irrigation), not wet places with summers long enough to grow maize (just barely) or two to three cuttings of lucerne.

@Tallish_Tom @simon_brooke I don’t think farms should be that large unless you’re in a desert and using the excess land to harvest rain. Not even in BC, where spaces are, relatively speaking, wide-open.
