@mwl I mostly use Oracle Cloud because I manage operations for the compute service. We had a problem with the FreeBSD image but @dch recently got it fixed and has updated images (incl ZFS root) planned. I also have Rocky, OmniOS guests.
If Oracle isn’t something you’re comfortable with, I hear great things about Hetzner and OVH for BSDs, and they treated me well at prior employers.
@mwl Interestingly, I don't have that option in the account I have through work, which has a site license. It was there in the options on my personal account .. which I've been meaning to delete since getting the work one means I don't have to feel conflicted about paying their subscription fees for software I used to own outright.
It's complicated, but I try to be pragmatic about it... read your FAQ note and sounds like you are too.
@mwl Have a look at Neocities. Free hosting for simple static/html websites and a pretty fun community of website builders. Lots of fun, silly pages made by real humans.
Nothing so fancy as Wordpress or Wix, but a great gateway/platform for learning basic web skills.
@koherecoWatchdog@mwl@kevinrns That's awful. Wish there was a tad bid more detail to make it relevant to this particular discussion, they don't even state what device was recording them. That's a mighty important detail.
@mwl
Another hint for how to discourage new people is to say that a big change needs to be broken up into several smaller pieces, and then when submitting the first smaller part with a "is this a reasonable size per patch?": outright rejecting it because it doesn't do anything useful (no, that comes with the whole changeset). @vaurora@liw
As a straight middle-aged white dude who worked for decades in tech, my superpower is admitting that I don't know enough about something to have an opinion.
Decision from the US Copyright Office: AI-generated text is not copyrightable.
Use an AI to generate your game, your ad, your marketing, your documentation? Anyone can use that text.
Congress can change this, and there's lots of examples of how to register your human-generated text when it's surrounded by other text, but in short: it's not intellectual property.
