As a European I can assure you that is for many Europeans the most political thing they do all year.

It’s a proxy for many a historical rivalry and friendship between countries; and also always reflects current events.

The claim it’s “apolitical” is laughable.

The implosion they’re experiencing is their own fault.

@ln0 @thomasfuchs I'm curious how many points Israel is going to get. It's never about the song, but it has always been political. Neighbours always give points to each other, countries in trouble get sympathy points. I wonder how it's going to be now.

growing up, i was always attracted to a certain madness, and it was attracted to me. yet, i would characterize myself as "tame" compared to some of the people i associated with.

Julian Cope has always been an off-putting but interesting character. he seems like a genuine yet borderline-psychopathic person who channels a violent madness into all his work; writing, music, or otherwise. this attracts me, but none of his has really clicked with me yet.

It's been a few years I visited , but this year the tech conference theme was excellently executed.

Does anyone else here use #Tusky as their main mastodon accessing thing on their phone?

When I'm catching up on the overnight it seems to skip hours at a time which gets to be annoying.

I end up filling in the gaps on the default Mastodon app which I'm less keen on because of the jiggling "new post" marker that is constantly, and redundantly, at the top.

@vjousse As a Vim user, I find it quite annoying that when I search for something Vim related, I find Neovim plugins or posts.
So the ideal thing for me would be that your content is available for both. Vim is not going away, but it's annoying that a lot of Vim content is being "polluted" by Neovim stuff.

If you provide both version, people can choose their favorite.
Also, it would be interesting to see which side it most popular.

I'm about to update my book on but as I am now mostly using , I'm a little bit outdated about plugin management. What would you recommend instead of pathogen (for vim, not for neovim)?

@vjousse I still use Vundle. It's simple and does the job.
I thought about switching to Vim's native plugin model, but that doesn't have any way of easily updating all plugins, so that's a no-no really.

I am begging people to stop blogging with substack (email bookclubs aside).

every time I click a link it bothers me TWICE to sign in. TWO different pop-ups. I am not accessing these illicitly (well maybe thinks so) these are not subscriber only articles. I just want to read the article you are sharing that proves your point.

Get a blog (not wordpress though) with an RSS feed. Or at least use a less obnoxious service. No, medium is NOT less obnoxious.

@fistfulofdave @lapis I doubt there is such a thing. Self hosted is fine though. Same here, I love how low maintenance WP is these days. Everything auto-updates.
