@vwbusguy What does immutable mean to you? Containerized environments? Config enforcement via puppet/ansible/config tools? Create and destroy via VM templates instead of upgrades? I'd love to hear how you see the immutable world beyond the monolithic name and the tools you are using to accomplish this at scale. Thanks! Happy 2024!

@lauren Setup happens at the container initiation and takes around 15 milliseconds from the start. This cannot be reduced further, since setting the firewall rules already takes 10 milliseconds. It is also unlikely Docker connected containers would connect before it sets up its firewall, and the built-in proxies only get started after the firewall is enabled. Hope this helps, Lauren.

I have a story about a defendant not taking the stand in a criminal case.

If you get annoyed by what criminal defense lawyers do, stop reading now 😂 (and go read the 6th Amendment)

So anyway, one of my law school professors was considered among the top criminal defense lawyers in San Francisco.

OJ Simpson's legal team was preparing his defense -- and OJ was insisting on taking the stand.

OJ truly believed that if he could just talk to the jury, they wouldn't convict him.

My MacOS Time Machine backups are really really slow (1 hour+), using a USB 3.0 5Gbps interface and spinning rust hard drive (8TB, full), even with very small backup deltas from day to day. Sometimes I need to unplug my Mac and interrupt it. Any advice out there? How much would a faster drive help?

@stshank Minutes on my QNAP NAS. Done every few hours in the background over WiFi while I'm using it all day. This is on a laptop that's constantly being moved and put into sleep mode. Don't even notice it.

Literally one checkbox when setting up a shared folder. File level recovery in-OS or full restore over local network in recovery mode.
