Finally switched to a smart energy tariff - Octopus Agile.

I'm hoping that our #solar panels and battery (@solar) will be able to offset any big spikes in price.

Either by storing more electricity when it is cheap, or discharging when it is expensive.

So yeah. Just installed this whatever DCP colour laser thingy in the office and it JustWorksโ„ข๏ธ. Prints. Scans. Makes copies. All for around 350โ‚ฌ. No driver download or whatever needed. Weird that this is exceptional and not the default experience. Thank you, Brother!

@jwildeboer I have a Brother colour laser (HL-3150CDW). I installed the Linux drivers that Brother supply and it works fine.

Another proprietary social network is shutting down.

T2.Social - recently renamed Pebble - is closing.

It was an adequate Twitter clone. But it is obvious there's no route to a "winner takes all" platform.

I did chat with some of their developers about federation, but they were not interested.

A pity. Would have helped increase their stickiness and widened their userbase.

I want to see this documentary about even though I know most of the story of how it broke away from a blockchain that got taken over by a predatory 'entrepreneur'. The community run it now. There are a lot of closed minds when it comes to , but you cannot generalise about it. Hive offers something different and is changing lives.

I like to remember last year, 2022. Musk offered $44 B USD for Twitter in the spring. At the same time and up until November, everyone was yelling "red wave" in anticipation of a Republican takeover of the Senate and the House.

By October and after the threat of an extended trial, Elon closed the deal and took an immediate loss, having sold billions in personal assets and taking on massive loans to do so.
