I grew up in #Canada, but it just didn't work out. I've been in the #Netherlands since 2018, and sometime in 2024, we plan to apply for citizenship.

Maybe we know each other from #LiveJournal some #Vancouver or #Toronto events. I've done #Music #Journalism, #Photography and #FineArts and accidentally "fell into" #IT, and then further into Financial IT.

@StillIRise1963 ah yes, and the airline has a line about how they're investigating how this could happen.

Maybe the airline people should look up how airplanes work, and why they hardly ever run AC once they're pushed back from the terminal.

Four hour delays would have seen many on the plane effectively flying for free (likely €200-400 as it's domestic) had this been an EU flight. Though, EU flights could sit on the tarmac for 5hr before offering deplaning. An hour sitting there is too much.

@brinnbelyea @CStamp @StillIRise1963 they can, but four hours would be a fair bit of fuel, I'd imagine. They should be able to deplane quicker and easier without the implicit threat of being stranded because they "volunteered" to live.

@CStamp @brinnbelyea @StillIRise1963 Likely something like this as the excuse: "We don't have a gate we can park in, so we can't go there for power, and we can't refuel with passengers on board, so..."

The problem seems to be systemic and happening more and more. I was on a plane without AC while in flight, and the was horrible... I can't imagine sitting baking in Nevada heat. I would likely be one of the belligerent passengers.

@godlessmom I had to remove the Twitter app from my phone to avoid the rage reflex. It’s been interesting.

I’m still scrolling Twitter on a desktop once in a while to keep clearing out follows and look for alternatives for people who aren’t keeping up a fedi presence.

20 years later, I’d never have guessed I’d be subscribing to a bunch of MAILING LISTS. Willingly.

I admit my question is VERY loaded. The higher and higher, bigger and bigger of cars is basically out of control in North America, and getting worse here in the EU as well.

I believe that one of the biggest categories of injuries drivers get when they crash into other cars, buildings, or cyclists are head and neck injuries. I think it's time to introduce four-point harnesses, neck supports and driving helmets for drivers.

@osma @DataDrivenMD The flag carriers could rock-paper-scissors at every intersection to determine vehicular priority!

I'm writing from the Netherlands where raised intersections and single-lane wide local streets are pretty normal. Making drivers feel a bit unsafe seems to make them slow down a bit.
