This is my son's launch day Deck. It's pretty far out of warranty at this point, figured I'd try self repair for battery before sending it in for paid servicing.
Is there a #SteamDeck alternative? I seem to recall someone mentioning one to me like it was a less expensive no-brainer because it would also run some Windows software.
@punkscience_ns There is the ROG Ally, Legion Go, and MSI Claw. None of those are really less expensive than the #SteamDeck. The biggest complaint against those alternatives is the fact that they do run Windows. With the Steam Deck running it's own custom built version of Linux, it turns into a better overall gaming experience. You don't have to deal with things like waiting for Asus or Lenovo to update their software to fix stuff after each Windows update.
@gamingonlinux Oh! Finally! Is there anything about static on external monitors? I usually have to wake my deck twice (at least) for both the double-input and the static.
@steamdeckhq making the controls so that it's significantly harder to transcribe my thoughts into the computer? Bump me into forgetting and m steps because I was fighting the interface? Ick, I get enough of that from typing on iOS.
@rotopenguin I don’t mind the cycling through tabs, I’d understand that, it’s the inability to easily do that which makes it an issue. It’s something simple like making B go out of menus or allowing yourself to spin a lock backwards and forwards.
