I did the first #chess board render with my #RustLang chess engine :o I'm really happy with how it turned out. And it also shows that the white kingside castling worked xD (Assets from itch.io)
Almost a year since I started playing and I've finally hit 600 #ELO.
I've seen some IMs say that the 'hell wall' in #chess is around 600, and my play is highly volatile depending on how tired/well/hungover I am, so I'm not expecting to get much better quickly.
I'm not sure what to aim for next. Double my rating in the next year? Hit 1,000 by end of the year? Maybe six months? Something like that.
Bloody hell. A chess scandal film with Emma Stone attached. 😳
Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder Reteam with A24 for Ben Mezrich’s Carlsen-Niemann Chess Scandal Story (Exclusive)
The indie upstart seems to have outwitted streamers and studios to win 'Checkmate' with a seven-figure deal that left competitors' head-spinning.
Hehe. Pojawiły się nagrania z prób do #Eurovision2024 i widać, tam też naszą reprezentantkę Lunę z piosenką "The tower".
:) @szachy
IM Ulviyya Fataliyeva has won the European Women's Chess Championship 2024! A draw in the final round against GM Nino Batsiashvili was enough to secure the title undefeated with 8.5/10. IMs Nataliya Buksa and Lela Javakhishvili finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with 7.5 points on tiebreak criteria.
Big big congratulations to Gukesh D on winning the Candidates #chess tournament 2024. Considering Ding Liren's current form, Gukesh has a real chance of becoming the youngest world chess champion ever when he faces Ding next year.
Candidates is finished but the chess world keeps rolling. European Women's Championship is being played in Greece. The most interesting player is 9 year old Bodhana Sivanandan from England who might be the next Judit Polgar. So far she's played 3 International Masters, winning 1 and getting draws with the other two.
Follow her progress, because she might be the next great thing in chess.
Lei lost to Vaishali, who has now won 4 games in a row, meaning that sole leader Tan only needs a draw in tomorrow's final round to win the 2024 Women's Candidates!
Hikaru Nakamura defeats Alireza Firouzja and, after a brief spell at the top yesterday, is now really in shared 1st place of the 2024 Candidates - at least until the next to last round after tomorrow's rest day!
Wesley So or Anish Giri would have been much more competitive. I think it's sad that Firouzja doesn't care about Classical chess for a year and then just plays a weak event to get in to the Candidates
