I just remembered this brief part of a video doing a deep dive on how Fallout 76 hasn't really improved, and it makes me feel better that I'm not alone in thinking it's increasingly nuts how Bethesda fans will voluntarily and freely fix or improve their games when given mod tools.

At first it was kinda cool back when Bethesda was only just becoming a big success, so back with Morrowind say, but after Fallout 3? And especially Skyrim?

It's a gross joke.

@gmr_leon I think & should be allowed to bill for their invested in their already paid product.

Like this:

But if we did so, all the would've to file for bankrupcy due zo lack of assets to pay for that.

And yes, I mean that as I said: should be forced to pay for the and cost of caused by their !

A lot of the talk of has me thinking about this too, despite the situations being different.

There's a sliver of similarity in how the companies ride off of unpaid, voluntary community labor. Of course the major difference is, Bethesda actually makes something you may enjoy regardless of community labor, whereas Reddit's literally nothing without community contributions.

I guess I'm just more disillusioned than ever with larger companies enabling community-made content.

On one hand I greatly appreciate modding tools for games, but on the other hand, if they're for a bigger game, I'm basically making free content for them if I make mods for their game and...Why would I do that? Exposure?

I mean sure there's also the fun of it if it's just for you, but a lot of the fun of creating is sharing, yet how you do that may benefit a big business.
