So let me see if I get it right: people use the lack of QTs as an excuse to not come to #Mastodon, but stick with #BlueSky despite it lacking support for GIFs, videos, DMs, polls, and basic filtering capabilities?
@oblomov it also lacks this sort of Mr. Reply Guy what-about-ism.
For others in the thread: there is no “algorithm” on BlueSky, there are feeds that you can control yourself to customize your experience, it’s actually pretty neat.
@oblomov it’s true - you were doing it in the form of a “SubToot” but the vibe was definitely there.
If your response to people leaving is that they’re too dumb to know how good they have it without interrogating their actual reasons honestly, there isn’t much chance you - or the many people around here who are similarly incurious - are going to improve the Fediverse.
@oblomov see, you’re learning - that’s what you should have been doing instead of mocking people on their way out.
But as you can see, I’m here. I’m happy to tell you about the many problems I’ve experienced on Mastodon, but given your attitude, I don’t think you actually care beyond getting in some good snark.
@oblomov why would anyone want to leave a platform where people act like anyone who complains is an idiot? What a mystery! Have a good time driving people away with your attitude.
@pomCountyIrregs@ChrisBoese the point is not what do people want. The point is refusing to use a platform that misses a feature they want but using another platform that missed several features they want, showing that the missing feature wasn't really the reason they didn't stick with Mastodon in the first place, but just an excuse.
@mekkaokereke I'm sure things were different on your corner of the Fediverse, but during the November 2022 wave of Twitter migration I've seen loads of white people complaining that they didn't like Mastodon because it didn't have QTs. Not because it wasn't Black enough, or because the lack of QT was a sign of anti-Blackness, but for literally no other reason than the lack of QTs preventing their shall we say socially questionable shticks of dunking and stealing the thunder.
